Been Chasing a rattle on the bike for a few weeks and found out at speed while overtaking that it was the exhaust parting ways with the bike.
Scared the shit out of me and not sure how the guy I was overtaking ended up.
Once i pulled over I found the rear exhaust header pipe was out of the head (manifold flange nuts missing) and the braket at the bottom of the crank case had sheared clean on the 90deg bend. Rode home gently with Cable ties holding the bbrakket up and one nut borrowed from the front flange holding the rear in place.
Google search found a few cases of nuts shearing off but never a braket actually shearing off. Bike still under warranty and dealership had fitted pipes on supply of bike so hopefully they will wear the cost of repair (still waiting on that reply)
Anybody else had similar issue????
Rosco
not yet, but geez I'll keep an eye out after reading your story!
Never hurts to throw a socket set on to check loose nuts on the headers I suppose, especially if self-installed as I did. The dealer tightened your bolts (or not) so shouldn't be an issue getting them to back up their work.
my passenger foot peg nearly rattled off the other day (after putting the little lifting block in), thats the only problem I had, and thats cause I did a crap job of torqing the bolts up - I knew it at the time but then just forgot to check them later on.
Locktite dynas sporties, gotta use it always, gotta.
