Tried to clean some old bugs off the windshield but they wouldn't budge. Tried Harley bug cleaner, and methylated spirits but the bugs are hanging on!

Any ideas how to get the screen clean?

Go and get a tea towel from the missus, wet it and drape it over the screen, let it sit for an hour or so, and go and wipe the mess off.

There is stuff I used to use in a former occupation as a car detailer for a dealership. It is called white spirits, put that in a spray bottle and leave it sit for a few minutes, then wipe off. Other stuff I know of us called bug & tar remover. If that doesn't work, use a guerney like a previous post mentioned.

+1 for the Bug & Tar remover or similar stuff use the detergent used for windscreen bottles in the car, spay that on leave for a minute and wipe with microfibre cloth

+1 with the Towel, on a run I will drape a damp T towel overnight across the screen then clean the next morning.

Cheap and fast way to do it.
Go to a chemist and buy a large bottle of hydrogen peroxide (normally used to remove infection from various types of dirty body wounds).

Get a spray bottle and mix 70% peroxide and 30% water. Spray it on the bug guts and watch them 'boil' away. When they stop fizzing just wipe off with a detail cloth.

Does absolutely no harm to any component/part on the bike or any polish treatment already in place. Use on screens, fairings, engine guards etc.

Go get yourself some C18 Truck cleaner , spray it on , leave it for a hour or so and the bugs will fall off , , couple of years ago i went through a locust storm , bike was covered in them , , done another 6000 klm , before i got home , plenty of time to bake them all on , i thought i would never get them off , but this shit removed them like they were fresh, .

It was harder getting them out of the teeth, ha ha
