My partner has a 2011 Heritage that she wants to convert to a trike. We are looking for a reputable company to handle the conversion. We live on the Sunshine Coast so somewhere close is preferable. Any suggestions for the conversion kit and related costs and who can do it for us?

A few years ago there was a place in WA making a softail trike kit. Will see if I can find the add, it was in a bike mag

Have a word with Jason in Sunshine Coast Harley.  They may not do it there but he would know if there was anyone local that could help.

Ron from Old Skool Customs in Bundy should be able to see you straight, he's building one himself at the moment, not heritage but custom trike. PM if you want his details.

The Perth trike specialist , an Italian dude known as " Ding-Bob trikes " is no longer sadly

He was all the go up until 2002 or so , and did a right good job. All "pits approved" and all that shitola

Most of his trikes ended up in the east I believe

    Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the feedback. So far it looks like Eagle Trikes or also known as Motor Trike is going to be the closest to our location. Also looking at importing a Premium Trike Kit from Frankenstein Trike Kits in the USA. Or maybe my partner should just buy a new HD Trike???

    To Blueystar

" Don't know where you got your info from retroman "

I've been around the Harley scene in Perth since 1995 , that's 18+ years

Until 8 weeks ago I was one of the Perth " Harley Tour " operators (since 1995 )

There used to be 5 trikes , most Heritage based , doing "Harley" tours in Perth.

"Ding-Bob" built them all , to pass the " requirements" of WA licensing , whatever they were at the time

There's one left in Perth , one in Albany and one in Broome , all still being used for tours nearly 20 years on

The last one I saw built was on a 2002 Softail standard twin-cam , which went to the Gold Coast to work the tour market there

So his work could not have been all bad , one of his trikes , 1998 Fatboy based , went to Portugal FFsake !

I own and ride my dingbob trike everyday and I think it is well made and handles great.
All the ones from over seas are very short going up to 41 inches only, to me that means a tipper in a heavy corner.
I am still trying to find out if I can get another frame from him somehow but can't seem to find anyone that can help me.

One of my older mates has just had a Lehmann Trike kit put onto a 2008 Dyna here in Perth , picked it up last week

Built in the Swan Valley somewheres , I will post the details when I get them . A VERY good and neat job , I've been all over it !

    ( My mate's 85 now , and still riding. Fucking good on him I say !! )

Lehmann were the preferred trike kit of US dealers before HD started to make and push their own more recently

When I was at Daytona bikeweek 2+ years ago , trikes were HUGE , several builders displaying their wares there.

That's testament to the rising age of US Harley owners

if you want info on all the trike kits and conversions available in the USA (there are plenty) try www.triketalk.com I joined before i bought a 2012 factory HDt trike in the USA with 750 miles on it in 2013. cost me 26k and on road here now owes me just over 30k. which is a lot better that the 56k they are asking for the ex NZ stock trikes here.
also you will find an Australian section of the forum so you can contact Aussies with all sorts of trikes and conversions
