Was about to depart on a roadtrip today , anyway went to pump up tyre and noticed rear wheel bearings falling appart on one side.
Ended up tieing the bike to the box trailer and using the car jack to lift the wheel.
How the fuck do you remove the bearings ? I was going use a grinder and chisel to cut them out but is there an easier way ?
Picture of wheel/ bearing as it came off bike , pretty rooted , not sure why either as it was not noisey. But i did notice that the axle bolt and rear exhaust have been hitting each other causing the pipes to have a pea sized dent . I gather as the bearing has started to fail it has moved the axle nut slightly further to the right causing them to touch , i need new fucken pipes now.
Purchase a bearing puller then you wil be able to take them out yourself with out any problems, bearing puller kits have various sizes included to there is a big range of bearings you will be able to pull out, also if it is a blind bearing the kit will do the job.
Harley's have shit wheel bearings which need to be replaced often, had the rear wheel bearing fail on my Fatboy Lo
Replaced the bearings on my fat boy recently when I had a new tyre put on the rim.
Purchased mine from RockyMountain in the USA, 3 days and its on your doorstep, this company is great to deal with have ordered many things from this company with no problems

I have that same tool as well it is good but I find half the time you need to go back to what has been mentioned as the weight on the slide hammer is not enough on the larger bearings but some times moves the bearing enough to go back to the old way hammer +drift but don't think he would want to delay his road trip for 3 to 5 days
Hi,
good result 92fatboy I reckon
