Cam install price

Got quoted from a HD dealer $1,200 today to install 255 cams on a stock 2013, 103.

Price without install was around $800 (cams, gasket and bearings and easy install pushrods). No tools in that. no needle bearings as I've only done about 900ks.

also recommended the 211 as its a slim and I don't ride 2 up.  Will do a bit more research on that as there's plenty of threads on cam choice.

appreciate any views on cost.  Cheers

It takes 10 minutes more and only a few dollars more to change out the inner cam bearings while your in there. Price sounds too high to me.

    Thanks gents.

Dyno, where do you buy SE bits retail in Oz, assumed only dealers stocked SE bits. Interested in where to get tools for the cam change too.

Mate what bike do you have and where do you live?
I would be prepared to hire out to you my cam bearing puller/installer.
There would be a bond with it and you pay postage.
Just an idea. If you're interested I'll work out a price

Thanks gents, great info - particularly the thread on the cam install job!  I also found a YouTube video where a full cam install is walked through - by J&P cycles - there's a few others but that one was very good.

thanks for the links on tools and parts too.

Daggs I'm in Perth, thanks for the offer of a rental.  If I struggle with tools will PM you to talk about renting one.

    Cheers

Yep... Do it yourself. I used that JP video as reference, and it helped heaps!! You will be chuffed when you hit that button and it fires up after the install. :)

    Cheers
