I have a 2005 Anniversary fatboy with factory installed 95 ci. it has 50,000klm. I had it in service today to replace the cam tensioners. On inspection it was found that the cams have metal fatigue and caused damage to the cam backplate and oil pump which now need to be replaced. Can anyone advise me what causes cam metal fatigue and why it may have occurred in 3 years and this mileage. I am having 203 cams installed as part of the repair as there is no stock in Australia of standard cams
Many thanks for your comments
have decided that i will go with a 203 cam, dont have the funds for a complete up grade though i know in the long run it would be the best option.
I am not after HP but rather overall performance with best fuel economy as I live in Darwin and our rides can involve many kms
It is out of warranty but i will make my feelings known at the dealer
