Is there really any need to rake a new bike, it should be setup with the correct trail from the factory.

Only thing raking a Harley does is trying to make it look cool, just my opinion

Read up on the ADR's first or you will become a cop magnet!

Any increased rake wil compromise handlide to some degree. The greater the rake, the greater the compromise......

I like the look of a raked front end, I'll end up raking the sporty I have. Having looked into it somewhat I get the impression it's a bit of an unknown until you do it and ride it. Probably Filthy sums it up most eloquently, and in the end it'll be up to you how you think it handles.

I've linked to these pages before, and the author seems to know what he's talking about. They should give you some insight, do with the information as you will...

Oh, and don't forget about the ADR's whichever way you go, assuming you want street legal too.

     Rake dat bitch!!!

I did, and I love it!  It handles fine to me!  I can still scrape the boards at a 100!!  LOL!!

I put Hawg Halters 4 Degree trees on my fat, and I love the look - and let's face it - if we didn't give a shit about the look, we probably would not have bought a Harley right??

Anyways... here's a pic of my rake setup.

Dont think its worth the hassle.
Bigger wheel and thinner tire maybe, but otherwise the front end looks to busy.

That's not a comment on your bike Mongrel.
Just in general unless you do the above.

Many years ago l bought one of my shovels which was raked by jim out at sonic choppers out on Canterbury road past the kenworth factory in Melbourne , cant tell you what degrees jim put in to it but with the 21" hoop , the apes and a 2"over it was like riding a hot rod dirt bike, definitely a shit load of fun. Unless you've ridden or owned a raked frame its a bit hard to explain what they are like except you are increasing the trail which gives you more stability, slower turning , stabler in windy conditions. The reason all sports bikes are faster through the twistys is because they have a steep rake which is designed to give the rider fast feed back and fast reaction times, and apart from all that after the movie easyrider it was the cool thing to do

I'm running an Attitude Stiletto front end from vpw.com.au on my 2011 FXST, it's got 5 degrees in the trees & 2" over in the forks. It's a little bit harder to keep in a straight line at walking pace speed, turns in a little faster in corners which I love & handles perfect at highway speed, no wobbles unpredictability etc..

I think anytyhing over this set-up you're going to have compromised handling but I'm no expert!
