Those with a 120r or have a built 120 what numbers are you getting?
I currently have a 106 and making 119/119 and not overly impressed with it. I did change the throttle body from 50mm to a 58 and haven't had it retuned since but I doubt it will make a huge difference.

I am thinking of a crate 120r, changing the cams,  HG to .030" and maybe take a little more off the heads to get the comp up a little. SE catalogue indicates 140+ hp and 128 ish ftlb on the graph but say 135hp + in the text,   is that realistic.
The few charts I have seen look to be in the low 130's with the exception of a few that have had a lot of work done.

Is 15 or so hp extra to what I have now going to be that noticeable? Just don't know any one with those numbers on  HD to try it out.

Numbers all depends on who's dyno ya go on

in stock form mine did 121/122 at Thundertech if I wanted to brag about dyno sheets I would have gone to another shop and got 10% more (133/134) just doing a power run
when I did 5cc domed pistons and .030 HG and took comp up to 11.2:1 it did 124/126 ( Thundertech)
then when I fitted Tman 662-2 cam it did 128/135 (Thundertech) bump that up 10% and you have 138/148
I have now fitted the woods 9Fcams and it feels even better but no figures yet

When I spoke to the local harley shop of my figures they said there are getting more out of a stock create motor but there getting there tunes done by a 10% friendler dyno

I know that my stock 120r at 121/122 would sizzle your 119/119 106ci even with my big arse riding it

If you go the 120r route ya won,t be disappointed, but there is a few things that I would recommend

    1 squeeze some more compression
2 ditch the SE crap cam
    3 Roller rockers
    4 different lifters
    5 fit AV&V Beehive springs

This is all for more grunt and longeverty of the motor

cheers guys, I was hoping you 2 would chime in.
Daddy I am well aware of your results but I think it's a bit more than just some compression and cams some how. It sure as shit would have that oh yea feeling but I am pretty sure you have put in a lot of development time to get it to where it is now. Not like I can just buy a 120r bolt on a few bits and get the same result, well not until a blower becomes available.

Ando I know all about friendly dyno's and that you don't ride the sheet. But it's one of the few ways we have to measure results. The way mine feels you would want to smoke me for sure. It just doesn't feel like it hits, there's no angry response from it. I goes well don't get me wrong and rounds up most bike that want to play but it just don't have that OH Fuck feeling, it's just to well mannered.

cams would definitely be changed along with lifters and push rods, Compression with a shave and head gasket but I am not keen to bore it and change the slugs. Springs and rollers I hadn't given much thought to.

Just don't want to dump another load of $$$ and come up weak again.

I have dynoed a few. With stock headers and slip on mufflers and a tune 125hp is about it. I know Deano at Thundertech and him and I get very similar numbers on most things. His air is not as good as mine, so I may have 125 where he has 123, but thats about it. A friend of mine has one, did 117 from the dealer, I got it to 126hp, then we added a   D@D 2:1 and tune , nothing else and achieved 135hp. Torque 186nm from memory. The engine was out of the box, never been apart. Just did a 120 build with hurricane heads, 12.4 comp 64mm FBW throttle body and all the fruit and it just did 150hp. All on pump petrol, with air filter and street registered. Anything better than 140 is pretty damn special in my book. Hope that helps.

Lushy, good info ya have posted up, I know Deano rates you highly and has mentioned you in a few of our conversations

Ozymax I only ever compare numbers when they come from the same Dyno, which is how I have measured the changes I have made

78 as has been said in this post numbers aren't the be all and end all. Mine is a good example I think or it could just be me.....
lushy that's good info. sounds like a little adjustment nets some good gains. I don't want to go crazy on this if I go 120r. My thoughts would be if it gets to aggressive then issues with the bottom end may start to appear. Guess that's the advantage of doing a scratch up build. Yes I would agree 140+ is getting out there alright.

Ando I have only used 1 dyno for my own stuff and I am confident that it is pretty spot on given the owners reputation, past work history and what he has done on the strip
I'm thinking that just the increase in engine size will make it feel a lot different.

I need to work this one out well before I commit to a change. might see if there's any bikes for sale with 120 in them over the next month to help me learn a bit more.

not to sure about hilly. one day he's got a chopping board in the shed now he's got the whip out.

don't worry mate I give it plenty and it goes better than the mates bikes including the ones I have been tinkering with. It just don't do what I expected it to do.

with both Dyna  120R they were the S/Eagle kit fitted into the stock cases  in the kit you get the S/E cnc ported  heads , 4.060"  dia barrels with flat top pistons , S/E 4 5/8" stroker crank ass , S/e 266 cam's  are 658" lift  + 58m,m, throttle body  pushrod's etc ,  while we were ass the engine we went over the heads it hard to port & polish a set that have already been done out  we have adjusted the comp ratio on both 1 is on race gas the other is on pump gas the one on pump gas has 135 hp @ the back wheel using stock header pipes  & stock modified muffler bodys,              there is a little bit of room on the stock heads to shave but i would not take to much off with the stock flat top piston  0.020" -  0.025" ,   the race piston has bigger & deeper valve relief's , from memory when i  c.ced the stock 120 head set up it was lower than the comp ratio in the S/E cattledog , i had too work with her a little

Oh. Not yet.Coming soon apparently. Being a practical kind of guy, I made a little bracket to mount PV next to my computer screen, does that count? :-) . I do use a lot of data logging already as well. Live torque, 4 channel analogue input module on the dyno as well as, the delphi interface with winPep 7. Also run two computers so I can run other loggig in 2nd one. Data is king :-). Off to work now for me. cheers.

So after much reading, annoying every one with questions and stuffing around it looks like I may end up with S&S 124 kit in SE cases.
Still waiting on final cost and delivery dates.

But this also raises a few other questions.
Who dose the case boring and bearing conversions?
Who knows the S&S heads well enough to give them some attention with out stuffing them?

    Rollies don't do machine work

looks like I wrote that a bit ordinary.
Where in Australia is the place to take the heads and cases to for the machine work?
