I'm going to purchase a new Fat Bob next month in Brisbane.
How much will dealers move on list price ?
I live 1 km away from Morgan and Wacker in Newstead can anyone recommend these guys. I would consider gasoline alley if I was getting a better deal and better after sales service
Thanks
have a chat to the guys in general & get a feel for how you get treated as you will likely have to return & keep dealing with them.
one of the companies you mention once rudely told me to get on the internet when I asked about a brochure. Allegedly this may have changed with the other company opening its doors & introducing some competition.
needless to say that I have never spent a single buck at the first joint...
shop around and see what you can get regarding price, Harley's are way overpriced for the bike they are selling, they really dont get much better as the years roll on, eg: brakes, suspension.
But there will probably be a Harley price rise on the horizon now the Aussie dollar is going down
Or wait to see how the new Indain bikes are priced
I went with M & W about a month ago for a new Iron. No movement on RRP, however did a great deal on exhaust, intake, tune and forward controls. They also through in a bunch of other stuff, e.g. shirt, backpack, cleaning stuff etc. I'm sure you could get more if you pushed.
They were about $1k cheaper than the price the others quoted for the above mods.
I was impressed with their customer service also - very easy and friendly, not pushy.
That is the good thing with Jap bikes , you can normally bust them down between 5-10k on retain including on road costs without too much trouble depending on the model , + you get a shit load of extra's and riding gear thrown in , but the consequence comes when its time to sell your Jap bike, the dealers don't want them back because they can't sell the ones still have. i.e I bought a brand new Kwaka in 2010 , retail was $21,990 walked out the door including on road for $16,500 with extra's. The cunts dropped the price of the same bike a month later down to 15k. I sold it 12 months later for 9.5k which took 3 months or so . The Jap dealers offered me 7-8k to buy it back and some didn't even want it. Ive seen some left over 2010 models being advertised for 12k out the door . For that reason i'm quite happy HD don't discount the shit out of there bikes.
I would have thought that profit was entirely the dealers / manufactures business. It is the price you are willing to pay that is your business. It don't matter if there is $500 or $5ooo in it for the dealer, if you don't like the price then don't buy the bike. You think $700mil is a big profit, you best take a look at what your bank is making. Now back on topic OP how is the deal progressing?
That bike doesn't look like the one in your avatar.....You buying something else???
