Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago after reconnecting battery after a long period being disconnected. Didn't think it would be the fob battery, as that was too easy. Guess what..... fob battery. - Rob

Hope it is your fob battery,

I always have a spare fob battery somewhere on the bike , for this very reason.

Also on my birthday,( most of us remember this day),  I change the fob battery, plus change the batteries in the smoke alarms , plus change the batteries on the TV remotes.

Oh, just for the newbies, , those last two items are'nt on my bike !!!!!

Change the Fob battery every year, as you dont know how old the batteries are when you buy them as they could be old stock.

Have been caught out before trying to start the bike it wouldnt start and the alarm would go off, same thing happened to the girls sporty when we were out.

If you do get stuck get the battery out of someones bike so you can put it in your fob then start the bike and give the battery back to your mate and then you can both be on your merry way till you purchase a new fob battery

Sounds like it's the FOB Battery to me as well, If needs be you could always bypass the FOB by using the codes e.g.

The sequence below is for VRSC Models, perhaps it's the same for other models, maybe someone can verify?
