Hey fella's...Just swapped the wheels on my Widey and was wondering if you all use an alignment tool to get the rear wheel spot on or do you use some other method...

    Cheers...Sparra

Yeah I made my own and do as per manual. You should do all the alignment checks you can. Mine was all out a bit.

Yup. Bent wire with small o ring. Easy and very important.

I use a straight edge and set it up relative to the front wheel, taking into account the offsets applicable to the springer.

Made a big difference for me, it was quite a bit out as it came new from the dealer.

I found the bent wire and "O" ring method got close but is a bit of fcking around and is only as good as your eye when it comes to cetralizing the O-ring with the axle.

I got far better results and spot on belt alignment using a small pocket lazer level that I hold against the inside of the rear pully, it projects the lazer line straight down the length of the belt and clearly lets you see the alignment. Also use it for vertical alignment on either in or out side of rear pully.

That unit is a little pocket lazer/level made by Bosch, model PLL.5, bought it from bunnings for 25 bucks. ( Also comes in real handy around the workshop and home )

Best one I've seen so far if ya thinking about doing alignments on a regular basis I got from fleabay, clamps onto the rear pully.

I machined up some plugs that fit in the hollow centre of the axle and come to a point, the O ring on the 90degree wire lines up with that point.
I usually don't even use the oring, I mark where either side is then split the difference.

I think I've posted pictures before somewhere here.....

Yeah rider those laser belt aligners are the ducks guts, we use them at work on large motor & gearbox drives
