Skull I have just put progressive 11.5 ,412 ,s on my sporster and it has made a big diff ,the orig shocks i had on were either to hard or to soft and every time i went over a bumpy road it was,nt that good to many bumps and it became painful dose,nt help i have,nt got much of a seat but anyway had to do something so i went with the 412,s and Ive been on a couple of rides since i put them on and they have made a noticeable differance

hi skull 1200c shocks should be 12" std..you can measure eye to eye top mount to bottom on your bike to check..i'm looking at 412's 11"or 11.5"..and yes 412's are cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skull, just posted on the 2 up thread. I put Ikon shocks on mine and love them. They have a stronger spring rate than the 412's and to get a good 412 you need to get the ones for the Road King. They are listed as the heavy duty Sportster shock and the std RK shock. I had them on my bike for a month and they were alright but found the Ikon shock much better. They are also Australian and he backs up his shocks and has looked after me great.

Give Jeff from Ikon a call on 02 6040 9955 and explain what you are after. I'm sure you will be happy with what you get.

Skull, as far as cost goes I got mine two years ago so would be out Call Jeff for an up to date cost.

Walka, get a set of front Ikon springs, Run 15wt oil and 2" spacers. Will make the bike handle sooo much better. I also run Avon Venom X tyres front and rear (they are great), Superbrace fork brace and Daytona steering dampner. Shoots through the corners like nobodys business.

My pipes are always getting the 6 grit treatment. The pegs on the left are getting shorter also. Just can't help myself going into the corners hotter than I should. All part of the fun. I even put a 2:1 Kerker on mine to try and get more clearance, but I ended up with the same but a better sound and quicker bike. So I am happy.

Skull, how much are they now? What configuration did you get? Think I still have the old box at home, will have to check to see if they are the same that I got.

My shocks are 17610-1528. The front springs are F500-066. Bought them in July 2006.

You will love the ride they give you. The way that I set mine up: For 1 up on the lowest spring and 2 dampning. For 2 up, highest spring and 3 dampning.

Since I did my bike up, I have combined the old Harley spring adjuster onto the Ikon shock. 1st spring setting now is a bit more than the Ikon original and the 2nd now is the same as the 3rd Ikon. Have not put it on the 3rd now as will be good when we really load the bike up when we go away.

Can't help myself playing with the thing to try and get it handling better for my style of riding.

Good to hear. Knew you would be happy with them, they are a great shocky. You will have a much better handling bike when you do the front springs as well.

Hope you guys are right, 'cos after reading this post I rang Jeff @ Ikon (Koni backwards, eh?) and ordered a set of 12" shocks and suitable springs.. $735 all up posted. Will let you know how they go.. hopefully as well as the Koni Tri - Rates I fitted to my GSX 1100 in the 80's. Anything has to be better than the abysmal standard shocks. A quick trip to Albany and return having to press on a bit (on the inland road), was the last straw. I had been considering Fournales, but jeez, they cost as much as a deposit on a road king!

Yep, the price is right, but includes fork springs. The shocks were $575 as you quoted. I think Jeff knocked $15 off the total price.. Just waiting for Aust Post to do their bit now..

Ive got 883 low, wondering has anyone fitted ikons or similar. Does it alter appearance of bike( by altering ride height). Is 12 inch way to go?

Steamer, im still checking out progressives mainly cause there cheaper. Is it difficult to fit shocks myself or am i better paying someone to do it.Who's a good source to get progressives from. I was qouted by harley shop $540 and thats not fitted. Seems a lot to me?

It will take you about 10 min to fit them, If your sticking to the same length you dont even need a hoist. .Just do one side at atime.
If your changing the Lenght you will have to ajust the Drive Belt
