I thought I read ages ago an electrically operated valve or flapper that you fitted onto or in line with your exhaust that will quieten the exhaust at the flick of a switch.

    Was I dreaming?

Nope, but I can't remember the name. Possibly (defender or something like that) Cost is rather prohibitive.

No. I think it's called a " Patriot defender" or some thing similar

    Google that

Patriot Defender is correct but it was cable operated, not electric. No reason you couldn't modify it to be operated electrically I guess. They don't make them anymore but are still available online relatively cheap, if you can convince them to ship to Oz.

Just a heads-up in case you weren't aware. I'm pretty sure they don't comply, although I can't remember where I saw that. So if your thinking of going that route to meet legal obligations, you might be disappointed...

You could look at the peacemakers which I think may be electrically operated. I have the patriot defender pipe and really happy with it. I purposely wanted a basic cable operation as less things can go wrong. I can change my exhaust flap whilst riding; just takes a pull or push on a choke-like switch. They were cheaper and better looking IMHO than the peacemakers

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I wasnt looking to comply it was just if I was pulled over or was about to be pulled over I could have flipped a switch to quieten the noise just to say to the coppers it wasnt me if you get my drift.
We have in the area a over zealous cop who pulls Harley over on a regular basis just to annoy the fuck out of them then sends them to the pits for inspection.
He was based in Singleton and a lot of people stopped going to Singleton on rides because he use to park on the putty road and pull everyone over and book them. People got the jack of that and stopped riding that route. NOW we have the pleasure of putting up with him in our town and surrounding areas. Pulled a bloke up I work with the other day and his bike is NOT noisy yet still sent him to the pits for inspection. Hes just a vindictive prick.
Anyway I digress. Thanks I do some research.

I heard of a local down this way going through that area and got pulled up...The cop said his pipes were too loud and the fella said he had a compliance certificate for them and started to get it out to show him...The cop said if the certificate had Vance and Hines on it then bad luck....busted....Sounds like the same cop...
