I'm making the switch to gear drive cams with my 32k service and am a little unsure of which grind to go for.

I currently have the stock TC96 with V&H Big Shots, SE Ventilator A/c (with K&N) + SEST

I'm not after a fire breather. I ride 160km a day so I still want the bike to sit in traffic on a hot day or be rideable in the rain, hail etc etc. I also plan on doing as many kms as i can on this engine a its mainly a commuter.

I don't like to rev it to the limit or ride that hard so I think I want an improvment off the line and low - midrange more torque than hp.

I'm 6'7 and well over $1.20 so pulling a bit of weight is important based on this and my other requirements i'm leaning towards the 551

What are you running and any thoughts, suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

The 551 would do what you want for sure, although the Andrews 48, as Hilly has suggested, would do the job also, but at a better price than the S&S cams. You will need new lifters I would think, so I suggest you stay away from the latest offerings from HD. - Rob
