i was recommended to change my engine oil with penrite hpr gas  20w 60  in my 2002 fatboy. i bought it but have read the lable and its for Lpg and dual fuel engines. he was telling me that its good for a hot running (hd) motors which i can sort of understand but i am a big fan of the synthetic stuff and now i am having second thoughts. the bike has done 9000 ks . i wont put it in until somebody can give me advice on the pros and cons of it. i dont know what oil is in the bike now  but its due for an oil change . i am leaning towards the synthetic, any recommendations? and does anybody want to buy 5 Litres of HPR GAS 20w 60?  it cost me 50bucks but somebody can have it for fuck all cos i dont trust it.  cheers

i am getting used to this forum now and i realize the oil thing has been done many times before. i read a few and learned a bit so i am still none the wiser. i put the penrite 20/ 60 in but unless i get it analised by an oil company after 5000ks i will rub it between my fingers and come to a conclusion. does anybody know where i can get the oil analized?

All this bullshit about oil.. 20W50, synthetic, mineral. sem synthetic. Fish oil. wombat lymph gland oil.

You are riding an Internal combustion engine that requires lubrication because the manufacture could not make a better specified engine. So it needs a film of lubrication between the metal on metal moving parts. I read all this stuff about it is designed for Vtwin etc... The engine is still a combustion engine without water cooling. So spend what you want on the engine oil, trans and primary. In the end it doesn't matter because as soon as you rode your bike out of the dealer from where ever you bought it you will never get your money back.. It is used, second hand, has issues with that model year etc. In the end mate if you are like me you bought a HD because it is a Harley.

Yes you want to spend the best on your bike but in the end it is marketing nothing more or less.

FYI I put penrite Syn 15 in mine... But hey I an happy

I am not having a go at anyone but the oil thing has been done a lot. I feel that we are being shafted because we ride a HD. If you want to spend shit loads on you motor good but in the end it ill need a rebuild with or with out you expensive oils... And if you do it sooner or later who cares...The engine you build will be better thanwhat the factory gave you.

If its an air cooled engine, in my opinion a synthetic oil makes sense to deal with the heat.
I use Penrite racing 15 or 20. If you have a twin cam go for the Penrite Racing 15.

The biggest things are make sure it is the right oil weight for the temp., has a lot of zinc in the oil and is a brand name oil.
