Charity ride?

Been asked if I could donate a Harley ride as an auction item at a big fundraiser. I spoke to a guy that used to do Harley rides and the way he explained it insurance is not an issue as I am not charging anyone for the ride, simply donating a service? Passengers would be covered as a pillion under TAC. Anyone had experience in this field?

Ride will be approx. 100 klms with a hotel stop for lunch. Mate of mine will use his bike and I will use mine. We have helmets, gloves and jackets, wet weather gear etc.

best check with your insurance and TAC. There are too many roomers about what is legal and what is not on forums to believe any of it. Make sure you also get a copy sent to you and the details of the person who gave them to you. Take no chance and cover ya ass!!!

We had to get them to sign an indemnity form before we took passengers for a ride, to raise money for a charity group i was with a few years back. So the organisers should do this for you so you are not liable should anything happen.

IMHO Burnzi it would be a risk. By virtue of it being a "donated" service it implies a commercial value and would put you at risk if something went wrong. It's a sad world . . . . .
