I would probably add Nissan to the list of good calipers -standard equipment on most Jap bikes & Triumph & probably a few others-
4 & 6 piston -Cheap & available new & second hand -plenty of spares.
You probably have to make your own adaptor plates?
Just a thought.
Very good point Wayco, but if you have to mod anything (make brackets) then you will require and engineers certificate to make it legal, if not its another reason for your insurance company to knock you back...this may apply to any upgrade to your brakes......just food for thought.... T1
T1 is correct -but even alot of the aftermarket kits that have adaptor plates could be rejected and even ones that bolt staight on.-not ADR approved
The modification issue is a very subjective one-my bike had a vass engineering assessment done because I moved the brake pedal from right to left-(among other mods )Vic Roads then imposed a set of conditions & conditional registration requirements that were unexpected by the engineer-depends on the Vic Roads assessor as to HIS/HER personal opinion -not necesarily logic or law.
To be safe I used all Harly parts -V-rod brakes ,M.cyl ,discs ,wheel etc under the multi fit policy Harley has-engineered for insurance /police purposes -so that it didn't become a contentious issue.
With exhaust as an example -a person would assume any exhaust that complies with the DB rating of the bike should comply ,but some inspectors ,require stock only -relying on the $$$ factor for you to fight it and arguing that it doesn't have adr compliance.
Whilst aftermarket parts often exceed OEM ,unless they have some sort of compliance attached ,its like walking into a mine feild.
This is just my experience-got reemed once -didn't enjoy it -don't plan on the Gov't reeming me again if I can help it.
I don't think a late brembo will bolt on to an 87 leg-I think you will need a 99-2000 & up leg for a bolt on solution.
I also think that they both use 41mm tubes so it should be straightforward-but check with a mechanic/dealer first.
