    Hey guys,

Just joined up today as after selling bikes for years and riding all different kinds of machines, ive decided to buy my own harley! but... its such a hard choice to make as i love going fast and have always loved the vrod bikes...

now the breakout is here!! and its only around 3k more than the nightrod!!! arrrrgggg..

i would have to wait about 3mths for a breakout if i went with that, and the only issue is the colour.... the 2014 models come in Black, Orange, White..

has anyone seen pics of the 2014 models in the new colour??? its so hard to order a bike i have never seen, i had my heart set on the red model..

but then the fun of the nightrod also has me thinking that is the way to go!!!

i wish they were the same price, and both available... being impatient leans me more towards the nightrod, then there is the import market and can have a breakout to my door for around 25k...

im also very tempted to get a diavel carbon!! had one come in to work and we traded it for 20k, only 2,000kms and full termi exhaust.. this thing was a ROCKET.... but the servicing and maintenance costs are extreme

v-rod's  are o.k. but every model bike has a but in there somewere on the v-rod the front forks are way too soft  & the rear wide tyre pushes the front in turns, the foward controls are too low  when cornering go slow in & faster out, not the other way around otherwise you will end up on the otherside of the road  & there could be a truck coming the other way, a few v-rods have ended the rider's life this way

If you "love going fast and have always loved the vrod bikes" then buy one.

But as Daddyracer56 said don't expect a VROD to go super fast into a corner - infact no Harleys will go as fast into a corner as a Jap or Italian sports bike.

Remember the majority of Harleys are designed as cruisers (the exception being the Destroyer drag bike) and have their limitations if you try to race them on the street or track.

Imo if you love going fast don't buy a HD you will be soon disappointed. I bought a HD to go slower , enjoy the scenery ect . Does take a long time to adjust down but still fun. The nightrod has a max 32 degree lean angle which is the highest for a HD i think , but the 32 degree is fuck all , so you can work it out from there as to how fast you can realistically go.

I recently bought my first Harley to purposely go slower. I was originally slightly concerned I would get bored but quite the opposite I'm becoming obsessed haha.
Just be aware that's it's a total opposite kind of experience but still fun all the same, but damn they sound gooooood!
Good luck with the purchase and I reckon you have to ride it before purchasing anyway...
    Keep us posted.

i have set-up a few v-rod forks , you can get better results from them as they are set up for cruising , when there into a corner the weight against the g-load + grip from the tyre's the suspension squats a lot & you loose ground clearance , thats why you need too throttle thru a corner,   slow in fast out ,

I too am like the others and bought my Harley with the intention of riding it more sedately. If you really like the thought of a Harley have you considered a Buell, at least its got a Harley engine. I haven't been on one but they do look like they would handle quite well. I was also taken with the Davel but knew I had no chance of riding one sensibly. I am very happy with my bike and find I do ride it different to any of the other bikes I have had in the past. Good luck with your decision, it sounds like you need to really think about what you want the bike to do as its no use buying a cruiser if you want to keep up with the gixers.

Just want to say I'm looking at going for a breakout over my 2012 fatboy as I like the slimmer front end look and am still an avid softail fan and that wont change , I haven't seen one up close but red would be my choice as well, not so sold on the rims though, got to see it in the flesh first and test ride what the difference riding style from the fatty  feels like.

Im waiting for my Breakout to arrive. If you look on bike sales there is 3 Black Breakouts in Melbourne if you in that neck of the woods.
If my Breakout is listening get ya finger out and land ya bastard!!!!!
Having said that the Nightrod is a completely different beast to the Breakout in every way. Frame, motor, horse power handling etc. Try to get a ride on one or both.
Frasers in Newcastle had a Red Breakout a couple of weeks ago.

I had sport bikes for many years, purchased a Harley to go slower and save my license. Riding a Harley at 100ks or below is a buzz much different feeling than a sportbike.

One bike doesnt cut it you need 3 different bikes to satisfy the different riding moods.....

I have a Fatboy Lo, but I wouldn't sell it if I was to get another bike as it will just go in the corner of the garage for another day, I would like a V-rod.

Also I cant understand why people want to make their Harley go faster when they are not designed to do so.

Just putt-putt around enjoying the ride is what a Harley is about, not flat out.
