Its not a beginners job. but hey give it  go and learn about the bike.  You can fit the forward controls to any leg length with the right brackets.  If you have noticed there are plenty of tall fellas using them..

As was quoted to me by a fellow forumite " dude!  you need to get some shorter mates, you look like a midget"  i'll never forget!!!   lmfao

Hello pinpoint was not sure if you were asking me how i got on, with forward controls , as my first name is also Vinny, I decided not to after a lot of research was going to be expensive , and was quoted if would be hard on your back the position your legs would be at . I modified my brake lever so i can strecth my leg under the brake pedal and rest it on the floor board a lot more comfortable , cost me nothing

I bought my 2010 Fatboy new and fitted forward controls straight away. I was having the same problem still with having me knees around my ears so I just fitted 2" extended forward controls. Made the world of difference. wasn't a hard job.

    Hi,

I have a 2012 Fatboy and when I first got it I wanted forward controls so I fitted a set removed from a mates 2012 Softail standard.

Bolted straight on, just moved the brake master out of the way and refitted once the controls were on, no bleeding.

I am about 6 foot tall and still could not stretch out because the pegs sit back behind the frame uprights.

Looked at extensions which were costly because the brake line needed to be extended, and it looked like a prick of a job because the ABS unit is hidden between the engine and the back wheel.

I decided to go back to the boards and used a Kurryakyn extender kit which was about $100 and it moved the boards out an inch and forward an inch.

A couple of mates have now done the same and are happier with the riding position.

Keeps the classic look with slightly less scraping and being able to move your feet around is great.

I am about to set up some highway pegs in front of the boards so I can have my heel on the front of the boards and it should be more comfortable for touring.

I have since sold the forward controls if anyone is about to ask.

    Cheers Drac

with forward controls, you can get standard then 2inch & 3 inch extended forwards. But if leaving the Boards, this way you can move your feet around more on longer trips. Have you thought of Highway pegs, OR engine bars with the Moustache top bar. Look ok . Just a thought.

I'm 6'4" and just put the Arlen Ness 3" extension kit on my '14 FLSTF while keeping the boards.  Worked a treat.  Really happy with the result yes
