Headlamp Relocation/Cable Extension

I am relocating the headlamp on my 2007 Sporty from the stock position lower down on the tree (more of a Bobber look) using a relocation bracket bolted onto the lower tree.

Problem is with the cable length, probably a couple inches short for the new position.

Anyone know of a extender/connector that I can use ?

    Cheers

I just used a Lucid Customs bracket on the bottom of the triple tree as you describe La0055 and found enough slack in the wiring harness to stay out of trouble.

    Cheers mate.

I have the Lucid Customs relocation bracket too.

It looks like your lead enters the headlamp at a different point to mine - probably a different year ?

Yours enters at what appears to be pretty much in the centreof the headlamp casing, but mine is more over to the right and higher of centre on the headlamp casing (when sitting on the bike and looking from behind).

My lead is also to the outside or in-front of all of the other cables that run up behind the headlam,p so tonight I will disconnect the lead under the gas-tanks and (re)route it to the inside or behind all of the other cables. Hopefully that will give me enough. Only need about 2" I reckon.

    Nice bike too mate.

    Thanks again.

Apologies la0055 I should have expanded on the install.

Our lamp buckets are the same. I drilled the back of mine and moved the cable to make it look better, then I put a rubber gromit into the old cable hole. I filed the grove in the lamp bucket so the lamp could be fitted 180 degrees to its orginal position and the bar and shield logo would stay up the right way when the bucket was fitted to the new bracket.

It meant a lot of stuffing around but the finished product was worth it in the end. Just take your time with it and it will work out well in the end. Another tip is you may need to bend the bracket down a bit when fitted as the angle isn't quite right and you end up blinding oncoming traffic with you head lamp or road users in front of you via their rear vision mirrors.

Thanks for your comment about the bike.

Disconnected the lead at the connector and re-routed the cable last night ... still about an inch short, bummer!!!!

Will take the headlamp assembly into the shop Monday to get the cable extended.

    Thanks again for the feedback.

     Iron,

Just watch out for the vibrations causing the light to move up and down when you are riding. I did the same type of thing but made a very stiff bracket - the bloody thing still vibrated and gave me the shits at night. I went back to the factory setup (95 sporty under the cowl) after a lot of stuffing around!

Does anyone know if you can just flip the headlight upside down and wack it under the same tree? I've got a 48 just in case its different
