I want to change the after market screamin eagle air cleaner kit that came fitted on my 08 Dyna back to stock. The bike came with a screamin eagle race tuner plug in orange box and SE pipes. Question is does the bike need to be remapped once i change it back to a stock HD air cleaner assembly ? If it does require retuning any recommendation out Western Sydney way on who can do it properly.

Question 2 - I've noticed my Dyna stinks of petrol , fumey like even after sitting for a week in the shed is this normal? it pisses me off  that it stinks of fuel as it reminds me of the old shit cars i owned years ago. Bike seems to run fine blowing no smoke ect. Its got about 47,000km on it.

     Sorry I can't help with Q1, but maybe I might with Q2.

Check for any fuel leaks, ie fuel lines, especially the main one which is connected to your fuel tank. Mine started weeping near the fitting as it wasn't connected quite properly due to being knocked somehow. The connection fitting is one of those quick release type similar to air hose fitting. Just make sure the release part is fully engaged. The biggest tell tale sign I had was a fuel stain on my Softail primary cover which is just the std Cast Aluminium finish, and moisture around the fitting below the tank.

Maybe check the seal on your fuel cap, it could be damaged, allowing fuel vapor to vent.

I hope this might be able to help.

As Hilly said you might find it is going to run rich. Not as bad a lean but still it will carbon up the cylinders and pistons. Worse is if it is that rich it might wash the cylinder walls and then you will have wear on the walls. Remapping the bike will make it run better, Best bet is to get an upload from the dealer as a stock map would suffice. Isn't the SE kit a piggy back system? if so it would have the stock map in it so maybe just unplug the SE kit... I am not sure about the SE tuner.

Ref you second question, I would have a look around your throttle body where the fuel lines come into it. You shouldn't be able to smell fuel when the bike is sitting. When you turn on the bike the pump runs to pressurize the system. How long does it run for? A second or 2 is fine but if it sounds like anything longer say 3-5 secs then the systems is loosing pressure due to fuel loss and that is what you can smell.
