hi guys, been lurking for ages and thought its about time I post up my bike.

its a 1998 Heritage one owner I recently bought off my uncle with 16000km. Completely stock except Fatboy wheels and some slip ons from new. ripped the bags, screen, seat etc off within half hour of having it home and after a month of lagging behind my dad on a 2010 Electra glide standard with 110SE stage 4 and my brother on a 2011 Streetbob with 113SE stage 4 i thought i need an enigne swap so I recently purchased a S&S V124 which ive been installing with my dad over the past couple weekends.

Alsp swapped brakes for PM 4 piston the front, late model twin cam rear brake, forward controls, S&S heavy duty clutch and a few other things.

should be good fun and hoping for over 120RWHP.

that will be an awesome bit of kit mate once up and running. It really makes a huge difference to these when they are stripped back. What type of bars are you using as they are pretty much what I want to put on mine.

I think the bars are beach bars, they were laying round the garage.

Fingers crossed it will running next weekend.

Hi Davo, cheers mate thanks for the feedback.

Fingers crossed we will have her running this weekend.

For the time being I will be running V&H Staggered Big Shots but long term Im hoping to pick up a stainless V&H Hi Out Put power pipe.

Having tuned a few of these, is there a pipe you would recommend?

Its an running an feeling very strong. Took alot to get it started, would not kick on its own, had to hook it up to a charger with a start function.

Once we had it going it would start fine once warm but would not start today. Has anyone had any expieriance with the S&S 124, will the factory starter motor be sufficent?

No idea what the CCP is sorry hilly. Its a stock S&S V124.

Im hoping a brand new battery might sort it out.

All done. Ended putting in a 425 cranking amps battery and fires first time every time now. Super stoked with finished product, still taking it easy during the run in period but I can feel its gonna be a weapon, taking alot of restraint not to give it a hit but there will plenty of time for that. Big thanks to my dad for doing all the work and Exodus Customs for supplying all parts as well as place to build it and all the tools!!!

Overall the build went from a completly factory 1998 Heritage one owner that I bought off my 82 yr old uncle to this which includes:

    -S&S 124 crate motor

-4in rim with 150mm tyre and a skinny belt

    -S&S heavy duty clutch

    -4 piston PM front caliper

    -twin cam rear caliper

    -VH Staggered Big Shots

    -ikon shocks

    -forward controls

-badlander and lepera bare bones seats

Now all thats left is to get rid of the rear blinkers, want something nice and tight, finish running it in and get it on the dyno and eventually onto the quarter mile, my brothers 113ci Street bob went 11.2 so id like to beat that!!

looking good mate, there a few different options for the rear, I went the cheap option and just got the narrower bar that still uses the factory indicators. There are nicer options but I cant afford anything at the moment and I want to keep it looking reasonably stock. I also recommend the angled rego plate holder as it helps tidy up the rear. What does your uncle think of it now.

Geez , where are all these bloody nice Uncles , Lol ... nice work there Sam and DangerHD are you doing something simular .

Absolute different bikes with out all the bags and wind shields ... Most likely a naïve or rookie question but what is the reliability factor with these types of builds ... I would imagine you have to treat them a little different to a stocker but for example are long week end rides still on the cards .

I have a 2008 TC Softail Custom with very minor mods that gets 85 Hp and 100 Torque ... and it is nice on the longer 1000 K week enders but if I was being honest it feels like it could do with a bit more , especially when doubling ... I have come from a Jap bike back ground and am slowly changing my mind set from the way I rode then but it`s not easy not having that power when you want it .

Also in the process of putting together a 99 Springer Fxstc ... Slightly Bobbed / Chopped ... this one is going to be a solo ride and the one I am most likely going to want more grunt from as when the boys get together then boys will be boys ...

So this was the reason for the inquiry ... what in you guys opinion is needed for the magic 100 Hp motor with reliability thrown in for the 99 Evo .

Was definetly an awesome score! Got it at a great price which I why Ive spent a decent amount on it.

Dont really know the cost of upgrading a factory Evo to get 100hp but I imagine there would be a bit of work and cost involved.

Between me an my dad and my bro we have 3 Harleys with 100hp plus at the back wheel and its been different across all 3 bikes.

    1. Custom built rigid chopper with a 96ci SS crate motor, never dynoed but would be about the 100hp mark, been together for about 7 years and has never missed a beat, been ridden to the Moto GP twice from Sydney. Pulls like a train and is super reliable and never missed a beat.

    2. 2009 Electra Glide standard bought brand new with stage 4 screaming eagle 110ci kit, made 110hp at the wheel and went super hard but was a lemon. Never stopped chewing oil, was rebuilt twice by the dealer and when it required a 3rd rebuild dad had enough and had it rebuilt as a 124ci SS. Still running it in and limiter is set to 5500 at the moment and it absolutely hauls ass! cant wait till the limiter is off, absolute weapon! Expecting at least 120hp at the wheel.

    3. My bro has 2011 Street Bob with stage 4 113ci screaming eagle kit. This bike blows my mind, made 113hp at the wheel, it wheel stands and laying black lines from to 3rd even on the roll on. My did 11.2 first time out and never been on the track, very impressive. Set up correctly it should a high 10 sec quater.

    4. Mine is finally tuned and ready to ride, plenty of teething issues getting it going but seems fine now. Made 121hp at the wheel on the dyno today. cant wait to take it out.

So in the end some you win and some you but theres nothing like riding a Harley putting out big HP. Worth every cent!

Thanks for the feed back Sam ... I find it better some times to get info from people who have actually done certain things to there rides ... not all shops but definitely some will tell you just what you want to hear about reliability issues and power out puts and so on .

Anyone heard good or bad things about JE pistons ... I known they had a pretty good rap when it cam to Jap bikes and was curious to there Harley stories as Rollies up here Qld way has some pretty decent priced 103 kits for sale .

Finally got a bit of riding time in the bike is nuts! Absolutely nuts!

Cant hit hard off the line as the belt jumps so looking to convert to chain and run a 180mm rear tire and hopefully get a bit more grip as it just frys the tire rolling it on hard, even in 3rd doing 60-70Kmh!

Had the rear blinker bar completly fall off, luckily the wiring held it on as well as the reflector on the base of the rear guard disappear, looks like im going to have go berserk with the loctite as everything is going fall with the new found power.

Stoked with the power.....probably a little bit over board but can you ever have too much power!!!! Never!!!

good to here the bike is going well ,as for the belt there's planty of bikes out there making +130 hp with a 1 inch belt and 200mm + size tyres
yours has a 1.5 inch and 130/40 tyre ? maybe there,s a problem else where pulley worn /belt is hard ? you should be able to go to a 170 with
a later rim / 1/8 belt +pulley or machine your pulley down and still keep the factory rear guard and struts , as you can with a bobtail
that bike look clean and oem not butched like a lot do when thay go 180 just my 5c
