Hello All , l am painting some parts for my 45 and am having problems with the paint blistering after the second coat. It doesn t  blister everywhere only in certain spots. l use good quality paint from a can, let it dry well  and sand between coats. l  then clean the parts and spray again . Its the second coat that is giving me trouble . Any good knowledge of what is happening  would be greatly appreciated .

    Regards Marshy

Surface too hot? Lots of moisture in the air?  And keep coats thin.

You will need to blast back to bare metal, then clean with the appropriate paint cleaning product, also you will have to etch prime those parts then primer then topcoat. But using spray cans is a cheap and nasty way of doing things and it wont last.

Use 2pack paint or get it powerdcoated that is the only way of getting a good finish also it will last may years.

That is a classic case of " reaction "

Causes can be many , from solvent or primer on the original item , to something as simple as regular wax or polish

I painted a Chevy Corvette , ( a fibreglass car originally white ) , Pearlescent White. Looked great in the booth,

Left it to cool overnight in the booth , next morning looked like a road map of France ! Like your photos only a whole fucking car !

Sometimes that's just your ( bad) luck mate. Back to BARE METAL or powdercoat are your options

Thanks for the replies everyone. l feel the problem of the paint doing what it did stems from insufficent curing of the first coay. Regards Marshy
