It's going to happen, it's just a matter of time, With all the regulations on emissions getting tighter.
Not to mention the added benefits, eg no more overheating, longer lasting engines and more reliablity.
I'm guessing we'll see other HD models in the next couple of years with revolution engines.

could come in handy for boiling water to make a cup of tea when away camping ?
All the Porsche purists carried on about the end of the air cooled era and how it would change the identity of Porsches. When porsche transitioned to water cooled engines the purists didnt care that much after a little while. There was initial thought that the air cooled Porsches would hold their value better since the change but this hasn't occurred. I suspect it may be a simar story with harleys. Air cooled Harley's will be phased out; it's just a matter of time. Same with the pushrods no doubt.
whatever . . . .
My shovel will never be water cooled . . . .

I've never liked water cooled bike engines much but it's true that it's getting harder and harder for makers to meet various government regulations with air cooled motors. Even now HD's run strangled unless you (at a minimum) put a filter and a muffler and load a different tune into them. So yeah at some point I guess HD won't have much choice but I'm hoping it's still years down the track. If (when) they do have to go down the liquid cooled track then I hope they do something similar to what BMW have just done with their new boxer engine. Instead of thick water jackets they've put a small ring around the head for the coolant so only the hottest part of the motor gets water flow (the head/combustion area) and the barrels remain basically air cooled. That way the general look of the motor from previous versions is kept.
There is a plus & minus for aircooled & water cooled, but it really doesnt matter, I have owned both so it comes down to personal preference.
V-rod is water cooled and has a nice engine and probably one of the best engines in the Harley range, just my opinion.
Myself I really dont mind how they go I wont be purchasing another Harley way too expensive, I will just keep the one I already have now.
