I just put Lyndall pads in my 2010 Wide Glide for the same reason and the front is heaps better but the rear is still shit...I don't think they would lock up either but they do slow you down with enough pressure...I also notice in the aftermarket workshop manual it say's not to use Dot 4 fluid but that is what was in it so that's what I put back in...Maybe that will make a difference...

My street bob has a really nice rear brake but when i've been riding in shitty weather or the pads are at 25% or less there is a bit of fade there

My old sportster would lock up easy enough and you could do a decent stop with just them. On the StreetBob its like trying to stop a steam train with a piece of spaghetti. I thought there was something wrong (needed bleeding or something) but maybe its just them? I just don't have the time to piss around with them at the moment so I've just been putting up with it. They aren't just bad, they are shit.

Rear brakes have a lot to answer to! They shouldn't be as useless as they are...on lots of bikes including big Jappas.

Funnily enough, 2 years ago when I bought an old BSA 650, I took it for my first decent ride and when approaching a roundabout I tried to bang it down a gear but had, for that one moment, forgotten about the gear change being on the right hand side. I actually stabbed the brake pedal and the good girl did a brief lock-up slide (with noise). How come a 66 BSA with a rear drum can outperform a modern rear disc brake?

Must admit the stock rear brakes on my 06 Lowrider are poor as well.
When I finally bite the bullet on the engine mods I will look at it.
Best braking bike I ever rode was, I hate to say it, a Beema 1200 sports bike, the ABS and subsequent stopping were excellent.

My old Norton Commando had ABS back in the late 70's so not such a new idea,
only difference was Norton used a mechanical system not electronics.
They simply fitted too small a piston in the master cylinder mechanism, hey presto front brake ABS. lol
All sorts of mods proposed for that little engineering gem.

Looking like a great weekend to ride so I am outa here.

I just spent an hour re-bleeding my brakes, adjusted up the rod to the master cylinder and when I was bleeding I noticed the brake pedal was a little sticky at the forward controls so cleaned and freed that up.Went for a squirt and it has made a big difference to the brakes,at least now I can feel them ttrying to do there job...

yep ive done same with drum brake ,but since ive been using rear more and more an testing bike stoppage power with all brakes jammed on 2 see wat stopping power I can call upon in situation ,da dam back brake is working better have actually locked up rear wheel ,so im getting feeling and more stopping power than before probably cleaned pads face up so there is remarkable improvement in back brake ,albeit im pushin hard on pedal 2 obtain this but am happier now knowing there is a brake there afterall SHINGLES
