they don't have to be able to quote verse, know the section and then look it up.

if there are no rules anarchy will prevail.

I guess the world would be a pretty dangerous place if your motorcycle's rear guard was at a 35 degree angle from your axle.

I live in SA and have witnessed SAPOl's focus on this law firsthand, especially with sports bikes.  I was pulled over by a motorbike copper (random check) and he checked this measurement on my Ducati.  I hadn't changed anything so it was legal, but I couldn't help ask him where the logic was in such a law.  He somewhat agreed.  This law defies the basic laws of physics.  Ever ride behind another vehicle and witness that rock flying towards you?  Where did it come from?  I'll tell you, it came from the bottom of the tyre where it contacts the road.  Centrifugal force is what I'm talking about.  The greater the weight of the rock (or debris) and the faster the wheel spins, the higher the force acting on it at the point where the rubber meets the road.

Heres my logical proof.  How many of you have a chip in your car windscreen, a dent in your front guard, etc, from a stray rock from the vehicle in front?  I bet everyone does.

how many of you have a big dent in the underside of your mudguard?  I'm not talking about a bit of sandblasting on the trailing edge.

Unless the law says the mudguard must cover the rear wheel completely, then it's useless.  That's my 2c worth.

Holy Shit, seems I have touched a nerve with some on this issue.

I have now put my front guard back on so at least I am legal .... must admit my Sporty looked better without it.

    Cheers everyone.
