started to restore a 41 year old jap bike the bikes a usa import and has a lot of rust inside fuel tank whats a good way to remove fuel tank rust?

Have a look online at the various gas/fuel tank rust removal kits available. A friend used one on his shovel head and it didn't seem too onerous

KBS make a complete kit for motorcycle tanks cleans rust, etches and seals inside. If you google KBS you can purchase on line here in OZ.

 i use 50 nut's count then on the way in & on the out make sure you don't leave any behind  + 2 mtr light dog chain  rotate slowly  some jap tanks are a bit thin  clean untill it looks light grey/silver in there , do not use any seal coatings .  just keep it clean
