     hey lads,

Have yet another issue with my shovel. Got it all running with resealed trans, belt drive primary, new oil pump and rebuilt s and s carb, took it for a spin and all sweet. Thinking everything was sweet i went for a short ride and 15 min into my journey rattle rattle rattle. No oil pressure light came on and noise sounds like valve train (although iv never hears a roller bearing bottom end fail before). This did happen once before i changed the oil pump. Not being a harley owner long im thinking hyd lifters may be bleading down wen hot?On my othe thread houli was saying about cam bearing failures etc. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

with the oil pressure light coming on you`ll need to check that first and make sure the pump is ok.Then check tappet screen to make sure its clean, do you have solids or hyd lifters?

Just above the oil pump on the crank cases is a big screw, wtf is that is that? It's the filter for the tappets, be careful reinstalling it cross threading is easy

So turns out there was bugger all in the tappet screen. Apart from that I haven't really looked into it too much. Think that instead of polishing this turd shes gunna get stripped back and done from scratch. I have a 5 in 4 revtech box on the way to help get the restoration started!

lf you do have a lifter/ lifter block problem definitely look at installing Velva touch lifter assemblys. lt is an excellent upgrade for a shovel
