I have been a fan of the Smith's googles and mask and when I did a few rides in 2010 and 2011 into Vic and NSW a number of people showed interest, but it was near impossible to locate.

A number of riders are now weraing these and I have now located another source but this time Scott. There are even inserts for prescription lenses.

yes there good uncle had the same ones for a few years now slightly diffrant googles , have a brand new set and mask on my shelf for when i need them as you said there hard to get at times so i doubled up of ebay few years back

Been wearing one for long rides now for about 6mths, awseome bit of kit, especially when it comes to the bigger bugs etc, interchangable lenses, I use the yellow?amber? lens for day/night riding and good in the wet, most of all, comfortable and breathings good. No I'm not affiliated in any way, any w.a. riders can get one from supercycles for 'ish $80, but be quick they have trouble keeping the stock up

Would be much easier to purchase a dual purpose helmet, you get the best of both worlds, open face & full face also you can have the option of dark or clear shield in one helmet. Also don't have to worry if it rains or you go through a locust plague.

How are they for fitment? is there a chance of fogging up??

They look great. I got neoprene mask last year that wouldnt fit a budgie, and have been looking for something good. Thanks for the tip.

 

I've not tried the Scott yet, but I have the Smith's and have not had problems with fogging.. they are awesome on country runs

I use one of these Scott mask/goggle combos when I'm doing country rides and it works a treat. It was $79.95 and worth every cent, the visibility is great, I use the original lense which is a sort of reddish tint but it doesn't seem to be tinted at all from the inside while wearing them actually it seems to cut down the glare and is really quite comfortable on the eyesight. I haven't had any fogging issues at all and it seems to stop the wind getting under the front edge of my open face helmet which tends to try and lift the helmet off ya head at anything over 100 kmh.
I would recommend these to anybody who likes the freedom of an open face helmet but the bug/wind proofing on longer or faster rides.

They are shit in real heavy rain and open face. water drops through the top vent holes and then fogs to the shithouse. okay in all other weather.

I've had no issues with mine leaking, I ride every day and have been in some pretty heavy melbourne rain!

Do you fit it over or under the helmet? (Strap)

Question: Is there a proper filter for the facemask bit? I ask as i get a chit of a time with allergies in summer and a HEPA type filter would be a godsend.

This is funny. Everything old is new again! These were what I used to wear when I rode motocross in the 70's and 80's.

they sure where ,cant say I have had any problem's with water bit ,but fog a bit when pull up and sit at the lights but goes quickly once moving
but in saying that even my sunnies fog sometimes by themselves

Quad Parts in Wanneroo have them as well, got a set this morning.

Zeros In Mordialloc stock the Scott snowmobile mask and also the Aviator goggles (jean tete from France) although the Aviators now have polycarbonate lenses

With the Scott one there seems to be two types of these. One for $70ish which appears to be one piece (???) mouth (or lower part of face) guard and googles and the other is about $20ish which is just the mouth guard and you buy your own googles. If so, I'm tempted to go separate piece.
