no idea

just been trying to work out which tuner would be good for my needs and have no idea. I don't want anything complicated so like the idea of an auto tune, but which one. I am only running screaming eagle slip ons at the moment but may change them to a full system later, the only other mod planned is a high flow a/c. The choices as I see it are thundermax, Cobra and PC V. I have had a PC 111 in the past but they need to be tuned on a dyno, it was on a GSX1400. I also see the TTS is popular but needs time/patience to fine tune. It will be a month or so before I get anything but trying to find out what people think would be my best option,

    cheers Steve.

If you intend to get it tuned on a dyno at some point in time speak to your preferred tuner and ask him. No good having a unit if he doesn't like it or is not real comfortable with it.

cheers ill have a look at the Dynajet. I don't really want to have to get it dynoed thats why I was thinking about an auto tune.

I have a Thundermax Auto Tune on my Fatboy Lo, it has been a great unit easy to setup from your own laptop computer, its now been on the bike for 4yrs never had any issues with the Thundermax.

Only 1 issue is when I put the new speedo on the bike, it wont show up the Gear Shift indicator but thats not a big deal to me.

Never put it on a Dyno as it goes well enough for a Harley

thanks Rocky and Dave quite a few people have now recommended the Thundermax, so that probably will be the go. I was in Rollies at Newfarm today and the Thundermax is the only unit they sell. It is $900 for the unit thru them and $270 (I think) to set it up with a close map/tune.

    Sorry for the HiJack

Thundermax seems to be liked by many. I have know idea about it and my only experience is with it on a 110, It seems to me that every day the bike runs different and some days is a real bitch to start.
I believe it has auto tune capability but can that function be turned off once you are happy with the tune?

thanks for the replies, I have heard a few times now as well that the Thundermax isn't always great, not sure if that is to do with the initial setup though. The only issue with getting a power commander is that if I upgrade the exhaust later to a full system it will need another dyno, it is still worth having a chat to him though.

I've gone the powervision because it truely remaps the ECU unlike others that sits between sensors and ECU (they just trick the ECU in seeing something thats not there).

Powervision uses preset maps that once loaded can be used to auto tune the bike. ie. load a map, turn on auto tune, ride bike, download learnt map and repeat.
The tune gets better every ride and changes to suit your style of riding. And you dont need a laptop.

But in saying the above, I havent looked too deeply in any other sytem.

    cheers fellas,
no doubt they are cheaper to buy out of the States, who is recommended. I bought my last pc111 from More Power racing and found them to be good. I haven't had a look to see if they sell them but will tonight.

i have come across a second hand Thundermax that is about a year old. I can get it for around $ 400 do you think that's a good buy for a second hand one. I think they are about $550 out of the States.

I have used Thundermax, SERT, PowwerVision PCIII and TTS.

Best I have found is TTS. Yes, it takes some doing and reading. But it delivers the best tune and tuned to the rider with the bike.

The newest SERT will do similar but when you adjust the afr the damn thing resets it to 14.7 when you load it into the bike. I dont like that.

Thundermax has issues with me and my bikes. It is hard to start when cold and the idle is all over the place.

PowerVision is costly and then you have to add the autotune feature.

PCIII was simple but could not match the TTS system.

Just be warned I think there's Thundermax, and then there's Thundermax with autotune - they are different. Personally I like the Cobra models with auto tune and they also come without auto tune so watch that.

I've just ordered a Power Vision for my 2011 Road King. I wanted to be able to do the tuning myself rather than pay someone!!! As soon as I set it up, I'll let you know how she goes,

well I ended up getting the 2nd hand Thundermax for $350 delivered. It has the auto tune attached so I will see how I go. I also just got a Roland Sands air filter so looking forward to putting everything on and hopefully getting it to run nice. The bloke removed it before he sold his bike and said it was working great prior to removal.

hoping they have a base map that is close, only mods so far are the screaming eagle slip ons and the Roland Sands filter.

You shouldnt have any issue finding a map for your setup

thanks fellas, not sure if it will arrive in the post tomorrow or if I have to wait until next week. The only issue is the bloke who sold it couldn't find the fitting and setup instructions. I have had a look on the Thundermax site and there seems to be a bit of info there. I have had a bit of experience loading maps as my last bike had a PC111.
