Got started today on fit the 585 easystarts and 106 slugs and jugs from S&S.

Tore it down, fitted new torrington inner cam bearings and the cams, runout on crank was well within tollerance and all tensioner wear pads were good.

shimmed cam sprocket got it perfect with crank sprocket.

Fitted the new pistons, cylinder, stock  heads and bolted the throttle body back up.

whacked in the adjustables and started on the rockers but thats as far as i git to day.

Will finish off the rockers and adjust pushrods sometime through the week.

Sent off a request to Fuel Moto listing all my specs and recieved a map the other day for my pc3, will take to Lushy when I get a few k's on it and have her dyno'd.

i have a 05 dyna (carbie) with 95cu kit, 10.25/1 pistons and hallam boys worked heads ,i had 211,s but kept shitting starter clutches every 2 mths, i changed to 585,s at first i did,nt like them because of the big flat spot ,the 211,s cut in at 2600rpm ,whereas the 585,s cut in at 3000rpm, i have found with the 585,s i have to have more rev,s on from wo to go, they are a lot noiser than the 211,s due to the higher lift, that took some getting used to, but as time has passed and i,ve got used to different riding style to get the most out of the cams ,the noise and overall i would give them 8 out of 10 ,the bike flys and i got more hp ,its now 93hp with 110ft/torque, ,the bottom line is YOU WILL LIKE THE CAMS

Look forward to hearing how it all goes mate. I've been keen on the 106 kit with 583 easy starts for a while, they seem like a good value bolt-on option. Did you buy yours through an S&S dealer here? I got a very affordable quote from M&M cycles, just have to convince the 'boss' I need the upgrade.

Cheers mate thanks for the info,
I did a fair bit of research before deciding on the 585's. reckon they should suit the 106 spot on.
I'll be adjusting the pushrods to about 0.140" of travel in the lifters, that should keep the noise down about too.

Just std HD, do you think 0.140" is too much?
It still leaves 60 thou of travel.
Was thinking maybe 0.120, leave myself somewhere to go....

I was under the impression that the twin cam lifters had 0.200" travel, I'll check it out.
    Thanks for your info man

Daggs harley B & C lifters have .200" of travel Iam useing be lifters ATM with SE pushrods 24tpi and set them at zero lash and then 3 full turns half a turn more that recommended sinks the lifter at .125"

Have some S&S lifters with travel limiters that I will use one day

Thanks Ando, that's what I thought. I have S&S rods @ 32tpi so 4 turns will give me 0.125" should be all good

took way longer that expected, ended up waiting two weeks longer than i hoped for the baisley spring,

fired the old girl up Wed night, started doing heat cycles, finished them now so go for a ride tomorrow after work.
no top end noise so got the adjustment right on the pushrods... so many opinions on that... went with what made sense to me...
loaded custom map from fuel moto until the dyno tune... seems ok but only heat cycles so far

daggs all good it's up and running. Mine runs hot in traffic with the oil cooler but I may have a bit more static compression 10.7:1 that's causing that.
should go nice for you. look forward to seeing the sheet after tuning.

Interested in hearing what numbers you pull on the dyno, I have a similar setup and curious for a comparison

Yeah will post sheets when done but won't be getting dyno'd for a while.
Unless it runs like shit with the map I have.
I'll find out in about half an hour... come on clock !!

well I road tested yesterday and the bike runs great, won't be able to get it dyno'd for a while, the closest decent shop is 400 k's away.
Tried a few different maps in my power commander USB 3, the custom map supplied by fuel moto seems the best.

The issue is that I seem to have lost the cold idle. It's the same with all the maps.
Idles fine when at normal operating temp but too low cold, it will stall unless I give it a bit of gas.
Reset throttle opening positions and they are correct, like I said warm idle is perfect

Cold idle was always fine previously.
I can put up with it until its dyno'd but just wondering if its not a tune issue.
Is it something that happened when throttle body and intake came off?

    Any ideas guys?

I notice mine take a while to warm up mate. can get going straight up but need to be real gentle on the throttle or it will cough and fart a bit.
Once you get it tuned they should be able to set up the cold idle arrangement, just remember to mention it to them.

did 300k ride today, bike ran sweet apart from idle issue, found that it is hot idle too not just cold...

clutch is slipping a bit too now motor is putting out more :)

friggin' seat of the pants is awesome and haven't even given it stick yet lol
