FuelShot Gen 111

Hope Joe & Mick don't mind. Will share these questions so that all can benefit.

The scenario: 2007 Fatboy, Rush 1.75 slip ons, Big Sukker.

Fuelshot fitted 500 k ago and tuned to the book for stage one..

Initial impressions: Bit spitty from cold start but idles beautifully when at operating temp. Much smoother at gentle to medium accel. Goes hard at heavy accel. Slight burble at decel and popped once or twice.

    Very Happy.

Now that the mufflers have 'burned in' I have two slight niggles. 1) An increase in decel pop and 2) a fair decrease in economy (this could be that I'm giving it a fistful more often enjoying the get up and go).

I intend to decrease Mode 2 (accel) by one increment and Mode 4 (decel) by the same.

Will see what Mick or Joe come up with in response to this and then act and post results. Should be a win/win for all.

    Hi Ron,

a couple of quick questions for you. WRT fuel economy, have you been giving it a lot of wrist? and is it Wide open Throttle or just acceleration?? Keeping in mind, you should be using more fuel than before, what sort of economy are you getting?

This will determine which mode to adjust.

With regard to decel pop, "increase" mode 4 by one increment. This will increase the fuel added on Decel.

Let me know how you go and we will confirm from there.

    Cheers

    Mick

    Gooday Mick,

I suppose I've been banging it wide open a bit. (tsk, tsk). Also staying away from 6th gear unless I'm really flying.

Fuel light was coming on at about 225k now at 200k. I do expect to use more fuel and it's not really a great problem.

Will increase Mode 4 one increment and report the outcome. (Have got it in my head that the popping is excess fuel igniting in the exhaust system so presumed I should decrease)

    Thanks for the support.

    Hi Ron,
that could be the case, but try increasing first.

suggest trying a tank at general cruise (minimal outbursts...), you should get around 230-260 before fuel light kicks in. I have the same setup on my 07 with our own pipes and a hypercharger, and have got at least that all the way up to the gold coast and back on 98 octane.

Let me know how you go.

    cheers

Upped Mode 4 one increment and did a couple of hundred k's this weekend. The pop has gone and now get a nice? burble on decel.

Have done 207 on this tank and no warning light so far.

Seems you're right Mick, but I cant see the logic.

    Still happy

    Hi Ron,

as you are probably aware, decel pop is usually (but not always) created by a lean condition in the pipe, which will in turn generate more heat, etc. Adding more fuel will assist with the lean condition as this is only added on Decel. ie as you decelerate, mode 4 adds fuel.

With regard to the economy side of things, mode 4 doesn't affect this as it is insignificant in proportion.

The unit is set up for relatively good economy at cruise while giving the appropriate fuel when in power ranges. As it is load based, the gentler you ride, the better the economy...

Keep us posted on how things go.

    Cheers

    Hey Mick

You were right, increasing mode 4 has taken away the decel pop. Bike still has a little burble which I quite like. The economy has improved without any adjustment other than to riding style. Have started to treat the fatty as a cruiser, not a flat-knacker throttle squeezer. Has gone to about 230 before fuel warning light appears.

Thanks for your great product and the after sales service.

K, I just put on S&S Slip on and K&N Hi Flo Air filter kit.  Bike runs a hell of a lot better apart from the better sound.  I do notice on Decel I get popping, will this be fixed if I put on a Fuelshot?  Also as it is going top take me little while to gather the money would anyone recommend re-map of my ECU to minimise the chance of engine damage due to lean fuel mixture that may be caused by the changes I have made.  I am talking maybe a month or less to get the cash together.  Scotty can do a remap for me for a very good price I thought. Once I get the fuelshot do I need to get the stock map reloaded as well to start from scratch.

    Regards

    Hi AJ,

I suggest following Retsurhts advice. The FuelShot is designed to work on the base map (otherwise you would use different settings). Put the stock air cleaner back on till you install the FuelShot.

With regard to the decel pop question, yes the FuelShot will eliminate this.

Feel free to let me know if you have any specific questions.

    cheers

Yeah I did that after getting that advice. I gather that you have them in stock and I hope in about a months time to place an order. No doubt you will have a few questions from me regarding setup etc. Hopefully the idiots guide explains everything.
