Gents, i have a 96 fatty as per the title.
The bike i bought is dead stock, and was going to polish the existing calipers, until i noticed that the newer bikes have 4spot? calipers, which makes me wonder if it's possible to upgrade my bike with the later brakes? or is it more trouble than its worth? personally i like the idea so i can get a bigger pad/ contact surface. if it is possible, would the existing plumbing/ brake lines be OK, and the master cylinder diameter be ok?
Would upgrading to aftermarket calipers be a better bet ?
Sorry if these questions have been asked before, but i had a look and found not too much.
Thanks for any replies in advance, cheers.
thanks for the reply Crowy.
Is it possible to use the factory 9/16 master cylinder which is new, or is that needing the boot too? where would the best place be to get the bits? ebay US? or someone in AUS supply the right gear?
sorry about all of the Q's, im new to this game. cheers
stay away from ebay/no name generic crap. They all leak as they are made in china from very poor quality alloy. Either use a gen HD or Performance Machine one. If your making the power to need top end brakes, the larger 13" rotor and 6 piston from PM is a very good combo. Otherwise a 4 piston and floating rotor will do fine. Stock Master cylinders still work well with the 6 piston. T1
