Gday guys, any ideas on the best ignition upgrade, 98 fxd, roughly 70 k. Got a new ss carb and short shots if that akes any diff.

Ultima sell a nose cone unit for about $150 on ebay/Jireh. Its a rebadged Dyna 2kp so can be plugged into your compter and programmed up. Their coils are total chit though - I run a set of Dyna S single fires which rock.

Is it currently single fire or stock duel fire coils?

Good stuff guys. I know more now. It was mm cycles put me onto it, they have always good and quite honest. Its been a bit of an unreliable starter for me. Got new battery, service etc, then it wouldnt kick over....after a week of driving to work in summer after shelling out for pipes etc. it did start, and termials melted on battery. My fault, didnt tighten it enough, it arced. So, Im thinking upgrade that, plus new battery, do it properly, one less thing to worry about?

Good to hear....what would you pay for a quality battery? Are the cheap ones that bad? Big price diff makes me think there must be....

Yeah, I paid $210 for one, the terminals melted like solder. Apparently I didnt have it tight enough, and it arced? It was running, went inside to grab jacket and helmet, came out, melting......day after a $400 full service....furious.

Yeah, was crushed, had dropped all my dough on new carb install, pipes etc plus labour and on service, new battery, foolishly threw old battery out.....sun was shining, and 6 days out from payday....bitter and twisted!
