    Hi all,

just fitted a new gel battery to my softail and being a bit of a sticky beak thought I would check it while running with a multimeter and bugger me its charging at 16 to 17 volts, what is a normal charge rate, 13 to 14 volts ? Me thinks the rec reg has givin up the ghost as I remember years ago HD had a bad batch of rec regs around the early 90's and near new bikes were boiling batterys dry and all sorts of good stuff like that, mine is still the original. Also whats the go with club rego, what clubs offer it ?

    Thanks Dazz

+1....Chitty earths are the weak point on the Harley regulator system. Pay attend to getting it right and you should be happy for years.

Question......Was that voltage reading taken with the battery connected all up or were you just measuring the regulator output?
