Anyone running with Coker and/Firestone on their Sporty?
Would like to discuss fitting.
cheers
Thanks 45Wl, appreciate it.
Coincidentally, I have just been to local bike/tyre shop and had a look at the Avon's this morning. They are very nice tyres and good quality.
$450 fully fitted and balanced which sounds good to me.
I know they will look great (unfonortunately Avon dont come in a whitewall).
My ONLY concern is making such a drastic change to the bike in a performance/safety sense.
What do you reckon ?
Cheers mate
Cheers Waz.
What are you actually running on the Iron .... Coker or Firestone ?
Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback.
That's ok, thanks again Waz.
I am also now looking at the Shinko's as 45WL suggested, and they do look cool.
Unfortunately I don't think they have a 19" for my front on the Sporty.
Did you go the Shinko dual whitewall ?
Yes, please post a pic tonight I would be very interested to see them.
Cheers mate.
Thanks again for the heads-up on the Shinko Waz.
Having asked the question Coker of Firestone, I have decided to go with neither, but rather with the following .....
Rear: Shinko E270 Classic 500-16 Whitewall
Front: Heidenau 350-19 K34 Old Timer
Both from Bruce Collins Enterprises Melbourne brucecollinsent.com.au
Taking wheels into get powdercoated Gloss Black while tyres are off (spokes and hubs too) so I think they should look pretty cool on my Sporty.
Cheers
G'day chinashop_bull
Not sure what mileage to expect out of the Shinko but it looks shithot .... old skool look which I was after, so very happy so far. Put a Heidenau on the front.
Both tyres in preference to both Coker and Firestone on the advice of my tyre guy. He had them all, or access to them all (Coker, Firestone, Shinko, Heidenau) so could have sold me any, but recommended these.
Have only had a couple of rides since putting the tyres on but no discernable difference in handling etc. so again happy from that point of view.
Re the powdercoating - yes my wheels were chrome. My guy gave tham a 'light' sandblast before powdercoating, and they have come up a treat, so again very happy.
I gave him the complete wheels so he coated rims and spokes. Didn't want to stuff around with (and the expense of) removing spokes and rebuilding. Again full black was the look I wanted. he warned me that leaving the spokes in there may be some spots missed, but I can't see any, so good job.
He charged me $55 per wheel.
I haven't worked out how to post pics on this forum yet, so if you would like to see what they look like PM me your email address and I will send some thru to you.
My guy is Daniel at Colour Tech Coatings, 43 Nobility Street, Moolap (Geelong).

Not sure where you reside, but he had mine all plastic wrapped when I picked them up, so I am sure that he could easily box them and freight them back to you if you get them to him (assuming you are not from "Cats Country").
I am a simple man mate, I don't have access to all that technology you have suggested to get pics up on this forum.

Would you be able to email some pics - keen to see the end result. PM sent

No worries mate, I will send some over the weekend.
This is one of my customers Bikes, Shinko E240 White Wall Rear and Avon Speedmaster Front
My old Iron Head with the same Tyres
This my New Bike This one has Shinko E270 Black Wall rear and Speed Master Front
Beautiful bike mate.
Can I ask where you sourced the Sportster decal from ?
just seen the tyre in Walkers post.
all i can say is if you don't ride at all they will be fine but when you lean to take a corner, all you will have contacting the road is the sharp edge about as thick as a pencil. & the bike will go from under you. those tyres on a modern 1200 XL should not be considered. you must be all car men?
Yeah mate, got a couple of them (cars) too !!
sort of related topic...
do any of you 48 owners have the HD branded white walls? saw them fitted on a 48 in the showroom the other day and might get a set when my service is due in the next little bit. I know there are many other options out there, just wanting to know if anyone has first hand experience with these tyres.
