Not sure about your pipes, but on the StreetBob it was just a matter of taking my time and moving them around , up and down and twisting (lol) until I found an angle that allowed them to easily slip off (or was it on for the new ones). At first I thought there was no fucking way it was working, but in the end it was as smooth as silk. YMMV of course.
