hows it going.  I'm just wondering is there a rule of thumb on changeing spark plugs,,,,and leeds? the old rule of thumb was change both together or probably I am out of date,,,,, I am one who like to keep up on preventive maintnance where I can and there seems to be so many variables on these EFI systems,,,or maybe they got me bluffed??? fuck me..... yeah I think so,,but I'm trying to get there.:)

so... how many klm's do you expect from normal rideing??

p.s.  the last time I tuned a petrol engine there was two jets,,,,a flat blade screw driver did both.lol.

    cheers Jimmy.

Genuine Harley plugs ( made by somone else under cotract/licence , probably Champion !) work well and are as well priced as any

Put some anti-sieze on them and torque them correctly and you'll never have any thread problems.

Original stock leads work well also . Indeed the ECM "recognises" them better as part of knock detection and other ECM processes.

Leads should last way longer than plugs. Plugs should be good for up to 18,000 K's if you don't have too many short trips .

    thanks Retroman,

I got this bike with 19,000klm's  on it second hand, so who really knows where the fuck it's been ,,,etc  .I've only clocked up 3,000 odd k's on it,,had stage 1 upgrade. I poped the plugs the other day and they looked ok on the porceline? and both tabs had nice sqaure edges a bit more carb build up on the rear one out near the thread side but the gap seemed on the money??,,the gap was out on the front @ only 32 which I am lead to beleieve should be 38?? and yet it was cleaner from card build up than the back one??they are both original.

I'm trying to get to cover most unexpected bits and peices for a road trip in August that will be a 4,000 k round trip minimum.....so Jimmy is just trying to dot his i"s and cross his t"s. so I was going the relace both leeds and plugs just for peice of mind really

    thanks for your input.

    cheers Jimmy
