Found this old 94 Fatty in a cane farmers shed over Easter, convinced the first owner to part with it. 

Now need to work out where to start, some help from this awesome forum would be nice. 

Original owner said she had done 270,000Ks and had not been start in the last 6 years. He rebuilt the top end but got stuck around the cam and pushrods. 

Might be a issue with the ignition as well cause he has that off too. 

My plan is to put some adjustable pushrods in and turn it over slowly listening for weird noises, if all good then connect battery and see how she fires.

The first thing I'd do is remove the plugs and put a little light oil down the plug holes, then I'd let it sit for a day and change all the fluids.

Then and only then I'd put the adjustable push rods in and slowly turn it over by hand.

i would do what geoff said but if you have the std pushrods and it is a std cam pull the the top rocker boxes and fit them and see how she is than before you lash out on pushrods ,wish i could find a barn find like that good stuff nice winter project

Yeah I'm a bit unsure about the current pushrods and the cam, the old bloke said he tried to muck around with them and he has left it unfinished. He did say ill need new rods. The top end looks all bolted up new so I'm not keen to unbolt it, that's why I'm thinking about going down the adjustable path.

Plan will be to drain all fluids Geoff's idea.

The thing is I have an unknown engine, who knows what's complete without pulling it down and reassembling again.

even with some brand adjustable push rods you still need to remove / back off the lower rocker box to get the rod tip in the rocker ,i would leave the heads and jugs on pull the cam cover and have a looksee aswell to make sure the breather and cam are timed and may aswell slip the cam out aswell to check what it is whilst your there which you can do with out removing the lifters or lifter blocks maybe even check the torque on the heads as you say you have a unkown engine this where a workshop manual will help you heaps there is a free download in the refrance section

 Not going to start until next month cause of work but sitting here thinking about is going to drive me nuts. 

Pulling the cam cover off is the best option and first thing ill do.
