Can I fit a sidecar to my 2010 Fatbob or should I just buy a Ural already set up?
In Victoria & I'm guessing the other states ,you need an engineers report- & heaps of drama's.
Owning an out fit myself ,I'd go with a ural -they're built & designed for the job.
Quality control is heaps better than the old days,& now they use brembo brakes ,nipon denso electrics ,German herzog gears etc.
In the end I made a tilting sidecar and have it on my Softail heritage classic . Its a lot of fun.

I had a sidecar while the kids were growing up, it was fun once it was finally set up but it was a hell of a job trying to actually get it right. Even when I sold it I wasn't 100% happy, the handling was a compromise and good from 80-110 but heavy above that. If I set it up for say 100-130 then it was slightly unstable on take off (that's not mine below, just a sample of hiway sidecars work). Don't get me wrong, a well set up outfit is fun to ride... it's just hard to get them well set up. Oh and don't let people tell you don't need power, I found you need more power with an outfit because of the extra weight. The Ural's lack of power is the one thing that makes me wary of it.
IMO these are the people to talk to but be prepared for a wait, they're busy.
