I'm thinking of buying a new 48 but I'm wanting to know

    1. Do the models change much year to year?

    2. When do the new models get annonced and when do they start selling them in Aus?

I don't know if I should wait for the new models or just get the 2013?

    Cheers Goldy

buy a 48, put on the 3.3 gal tank, and ride it. Anyhting else that takes your fancy can be added later, they're all interchangeable so long as you stick to your year, and maybe a little either side.

From my observations, Harley Davidson models only tend to change in a cosmetic sense year on year by introducing new colours to a model. Rarely do they make wholesale changes, and the last significant occurence to the Sportster range was the addition of fuel injection less than a decade ago. Having said that, the 48 was a decent styling and mechanical departure from the previous 'dark' models of Nightster and Iron 883. The mid glide front end and 16-inch front wheel are firsts for the Sportster range. Don't expect much in the way of mechanical changes to the 48 for next year. Just buy one now and enjoy it.

+1 Buy now and enjoy it.

Not 100% sure, but think I read a thread about some models being disscontinued? The 48 may have been one of them?

    No more Nightster either?

I think the 48 is fairly safe for now..
