I have collected some bits to start my rigid project, need some info before I start. I purchased a revtech 5/4 speed and was told it will fit an electric start primary up to early 1984. Will an early 80,s primary fit an early evo motor? and more importantly where can I get a primary complete and an early evo motor. Any info appreciated.

A EVO Primary will not fit on to a 4 Speed Case, At the Motor End on the Primary EVO and Shovels are the same ,it's the Gear Box End that is diffrent. EVO Primary will only work on a Softail Gear Box

What Frame have you got? I mite be easyer to get rid of that Gear Box and go with a Evo Box

Got a copy of a krafteck frame set up for evo and 5 speed, good ol ebay, picked up a new revtech 5/4 box new with no kicker, which fits late shovel electric start primary so I,m told? So since I have the box I decided to go shovel motor, I can change the frame to suit. Will cost the same to rebuild a shovel as an evo and I,d rather another 1200 shovel but am open to sugestions or offers on the revtech box.

Yes , but you can buy a paughco adaptor mounting plate so will see what happens, starting to rethink the whole deal at the moment, might just sell the box and get an early evo 4 speed.

The Plate only works from 4 Speed Frame to adapt to 5 Speed Box. not the other way as a 5 Speed Gear Box Mounts are Higher in the Frame, If there has such a Plate the 4 Speed Box will sit to High and the Primary Backing Plate will not line up with the Motor.

OK thanks for that, this is a classic case of jumping in the deep end before doing some home work, my f/up. Will quit the revtech box and take some measurements of the frame mounts before I do anything else. Thanks for the education Walka.
