Hi - I have 76 shovel with a bendix/zenith carby - I think it's 38mm (but not certain) - it's OK
I'm told that i'd get better reliability and performance if I swap to a CV carby - KILLER Carbys in USA were recommended by a mate - otherwise I might try my luck with a 2nd hand one off ebay
Anyone know what size I can go to with the CV???? I've seen some 2nd hand CV carbys for sale off much later model bikes - anyone know if I can attach a late model CV carby to the Shovel??? or should I get 40mm from KILLER in USA
Any other suggestions welcomed
Cheers,

Stock CV's work great on a Shovel, but you will need a adaptor to fit it
best upgrade you will do other than stroking and going big bore, stock 40mm CV, get one second hand, ebay for the press on adaptor, harley shop for choke and cables, google cv carb shovelhead and you`ll get all the info, you`ll get a Cv for less than $100, advertise on here in wanted to buy. air cleaner can be a pain depending on what you want.
cheers - thanks for getting back to me - so is it ok to put a CV from any recent model or does it have to be a 40mm only
the original mikuni carb 2 bolt rubber boss flange mount will bolt up to a stock shovel inlet manifold no problems , the stock CV carb is 40 m.m.
G'day
I know Im late, but
You can get the adaptor from TD hatrick & Co in Townsville, Tom will post . Cables from any HD shop. Check out Nightrider.com for mods to perform if yours is a warm motor. Have done many over the years, and its the best mod you will perform. Biggest problem you will face is air filter mount
