Hey there Baloffski, a few of us South Aussies might share our road trip tales after the ANZAC weekend, as we are heading to Broken Hill for a couple nights.

P.S, would you have many tales to tell of your past adventures? I'm sure they'd be an interesting read.

     Had a few.

The latest was to Temora NSW to check out the jet boats.  Good run from Penrith NSW over the maountains to Bathurst, then onto Cowra and Temora.  Sat on 140 most of the way out back, plenty of bugs and very few bumps.

Best trip was in USA - left Vegas along Route 66 to Chicago, then across to Iowa, Omaha, Ogallala, Denver, Grand Junction UTah and Vegas. Best part was Colorado riding through the velleys following the Colorado River which eventually heads off to the Grand Canyon.  Roads are fantastic and scenery awesome.  Got booked in Utah 90mph in a 70mph, cost me and mate $115 each.  Took about 45minutes to write out a ticket.

Other trips in US - LA to San Fancisco, to Reno, down through Yosemite NP, Death Valley, Vegas then back to LA.

Another one was from Vegas through Utah, Rapid City, Black Hills South Dakota, Sturgis, two week after the rally.  They has a Ford Mustang rally on with around 600 Mustangs, sure was a sight. From Sturgis we went across South Dakota to Souix FAlls, Minisota, Wisconsin, HArley Museum in Milaulkee, down to Chicago.  Then flew back to Vegas to party.

I'd hate to do the miles in Australia that we did in the States because it would cost us a fortune for fuel, accommodation and more then likely repairs due to the state of our roads.

Looking at going back to do around San Francisco Seattle area.

Last weekend I headed off with a group of riders for a two day road trip. Day one we had 9 bikers ranging from a couple of Harleys through to sports bikes. On Day 2 we met up with another 6 riders, one Honda Fury and the rest sports bikes. Following is the trip itinerary. As you see we mostly spent our time riding up and down mountains in the Snowy region. Which was perfect for the sports bike but a bit more work me on the Roadking   However I loved every minute and it was a great two days ride. Stopped off at the Bermagui Bike Show, my favourite was a 1951 Harley Panhead. My next bike

    Day 1
    1. CBR to Batemans bay via the Kings Hwy and Clyde Mountain;
    2. Batemans Bay to Bermagui via Princes Hwy and turn off at Wallaga Lake. Went to the C.R.A.B., Cancer Research Advocate Bikers, bike show
    3. Bemagui to Tathra via the coast road (not the Princes Hwy.)
    4. Tathra, Bega, and up Brown Mountain
    5. Turned left off the Snowy Mountains Hwy on to the Monaro Hwy and head towards Bombala but didn’t go all the way to Bombala
    6. After about 22km, turn right on to Snowy river Way and it is about a 50km run north west to Dalgety.
    7. Dalgety to Jindabyne on the Snowy River way.
    Day 2
    1. Jindabyne, on to the Alpine Way, past Thredbo, through Dead Horse Gap, Tom Groggin, Geehi and into Khancoban
    2. Khancoban, cross the Murray and headed as if you are going to Corryong. At the T junction of the Murray Valley Hwy, turn right to Towong.
    3. Re-cross the Murray and follow the Tooma Road to Tooma. Took the right hand turn just before you get to Tooma.
    4. Went through Tooma and head toward Tumbarumba.
    5. About 17km before Tumbarumba turned right on to Elliot Way.
    6. Followed Elliot Way to the head waters of Talbingo reservoir, followed the river (criss crossing about 4 or 5 times), past the entrance of the Tumut 2 power station
    7. Now the road is (appropriately) called Goat Ridge Rd. Climb quickly up the Link rd. about 5 km North of Cabramurra
    8. Head past the Selwyn Ski resort and down to Kiandra where we turn right on to the Snow Mountain Hwy.
    9. Kiandra to Adaminaby.
10 Adaminaby, Cooma and back to CBR.

Bill,  You sure had that trip planned.  How many navigators did you have on the trip ????      Great area up in the mountains.  Your right, it can be a bit tricky up the top on a tourer .  At least your riding skills get well tuned.

had a great little overnight trip last year down to pemberton. not the biggest of rides but just some great roads amongst some of the forests down south west w.a. gods country is the south west & highly recommended if you have never been there. there is a few stretches along the south west hwy that are just really nice. nothing special (like side of cliff shit) just nice country road. also a great road between nannup & balingup which is a real buzz. we are doing it again in a few weeks & getting a few new roads in there too. will definiely take pics this time and post up.

Hey there Chef I've been on a coach trip with my wife, from Perth to Augusta, stopping at a couple places around Margaret River, including Xanadu winery, Mammoth Cave, and the Raptor wildlife park. On the return journey we stopped at Busselton for dinner.  If I ever get over that way again, I'd love to do it on 2 wheels. You've got some very nice country over there, and how about those Karri trees, they are massive.

Mark, we had one guy on the trip that knew every road, corner, you name it he knew about it, which made the trip so much easier. He'd ridden that route a few times. Next time we'll do some of it in reverse order. You are right, lots of twisties on a tourer, but it was still good fun

My wife and I did a return trip form Melbourne to Geralton in WA last January on my 2012 RK, that was a great ride, also took in a few rides with my son on his Duccati Diavel about the southern parts as well. Bloody heat was murder on teh Nullie though and so was the animal life, saw every type of wildlife known to an aussie, and on the way back kept getting in the way of all sorts of damn birds hell bent on unseating me for some reason.... but it was a fantastic trip and would love to do it again if my old body holds up..... buy the time I got to Perth though I had two warped front disc and had to get them replaced
