Managed to score myself a set of 2007 buell xb1200r heads and jugs off fleabay. I had the heads setup for Andrews N6 cams.

There are 2 types available - the first up to 99 model which has the courser gears and 00 and up which have the high contact ratio (HCR) finer gears. I been told that the older courser gears are stronger but why did they change to the finer gears??? Are the newer finer gears quieter?

Which type would you recommend? and why?

    Thanks

if your not going too race it the later gears will be fine  the N6 are a very radial cam lobe & are kind too the valve train  even in the higher rev's  & are only 500 " valve lift

    DR

I intend pressing the original pinion gear onto the new No 2

Would you recommend the HCR or the coarse gears? NCR quieter?

    Thanks

did you pressout the original pinion gear to replace the one on the No 2 cam or did use the andrews supplied cams as is?

Whichever ones you go with it's a good idea to spend a bit extra and get the later oil pump drive gear. I've come across a few failures in recent year.

    Thanks stev0

Its on my list but I'll only order the part after I open her up and see what I find.

NHRS and Hammer Performance both carry bronze parts, although at $99 US + shipping they expensive

    Cheers
