I've always been interested where people got their handle (or nick names if you like) from, how about some of you coming clean, it couldn't be any worse than mine and if some of the reasons are good I'll even come clean and I can tell you for a fact that very few people know the origins of Bahl, I don't even think stew51 who is my brother in law knows

     HMMM. He He

Were you  a dutch speaking Bavarian raised in Germany?

Had a quick look on google, seems your lot bred like rabbits and scaled the globe, just like my randy old spud growing forfathers from Ireland did.

    Boring one here,
Had a 78 Trans Am and it was gold.
403 Olds and couldn't even take it around the block without grinning from ear to ear.
Loved driving through westfields and setting all the sensitive cagers car alarms off.

Anyway shouldn't have sold her but wanted to get a couple of more bikes so you do what you have to do.

    that's where 78gold came from.

Used to use commando on various sites (After me Norton Commando) but now use 78gold everywhere.

FL originally was for the 74" and 80 - 88 cubic inch bikes with the big FLoating tyre. And others say it was for models with increased horsepower.

The beginings of the name Bahl first came into being in Cairns at approximately 4 pm on a saturday afternoon in june 1986, it was a cold day around 26 degrees the sort of day  when you put boots on to ride your bike, I was 32 years old and in what I thought was my last year of playing football, (Aussie Rules), (I would go and watch league on sundays) I was slightly ill this day with a dose of the lurgie, ah fuck this I'm to sober maybe later.

Hey Bahl, thanks for sharing your story. Kinda felt sorry for ya, at least Bahl is a better name than the one originally given. It would have been very embarrassing for quite some time.

Ok Bahl, the secret is out and thanks for sharing, but I think "Bahl" does suit better than the others. I thought that it might have been something to do with spewing or hurling, ya know, like the sound it makes when hurl.....BAAAHHHLLL.
I do like Poppa Smurf too, but ya just need that little blue hat.
Anyway, it sounds like you stopped your "recreational" ways so you can ride another day which is always a good thing hey.
I think you may know with my handle is my name is inside my bike models name.
Bike model FLHTCU. My name- Hutch. So all i did was put the u an h inside the model and there you have it. That's why there is a small u and h in the letters. FLHuTChU. works for me.
