So I thought I would start a thread on my next bike. Not much to show yet, Walka has a stack of goodies on its way to me (frame etc) I've secured a ready rebuilt 80 cube Evo and a mate has a good five speed for me. Spoken with an engineer ( again thanks to Walka) and got my ICV app in. This build will probably go pretty slowly due to funds and work commitments but we all love watching these things come together and hopefully some of you can take something from it and more importantly some of you can help me from fkn it up! We'll see how we go ay!!

Its a kraft tech 180 rear rigid frame. Going a 21 up front and 16 at the back with a 2 inch under springer. A guy by the name of Dan Pitic is sorting the ICV for me. Apart from that I'll be working from copies of the VSB 14 guidelines to make sure I can register the thing.

This is the motor I picked up. Frame and other gear from VPW is at the freight depot ready to pick up. Hopefully they open up tomorrow!

So progress will be slow for the next couple of weeks. I have had the 1 1/2 belt pulley machined from 2" to 2.25"to fit the new wheels and got some rotors ordered. Hopefully I can find some whitewalls in the meantime so I can get them fitted and ballanced with all the hardware on. Once this is done I'll take some measurements and look at what guards I want.

Meanwhile the engine is getting a good once over from a mate, and the fuel and oil tanks I'm wanting are not yet in stock with VPW. Apart from that it is just accumulating peripheral stuff. Clutches, controls, guages etc..

Sooo... There probably wont be much in the way of HD products on Ebay for a while. But damn my shed'll be chockers when I fly home

The combination of isolation, impatience and a slow roster has culminated in the following items winging thier way to my place:

    Ultima single fire ignition kit

    New super spoke rotors

    Spinger caliper mounts

4 spot front and back calipers

shorty risers and a set of 1 1/4 Z bars

    front and back guards

    engine mounts

    Barnett Clutch and throttle/idle cables

    complete primary drive setup

    S&S clutch

    New starter motor

    A set of white walls

    Hand tooled leather solo seat

    New black forward controls.

Oh...the ever helpful Walka has got a new oil tank waiting for me too.

And I still have 5 days left in my swing... Fargenell!

Well, flew back in last night to find none of my parts have arrived yet. I did get my seat this morning which I'm fairly pleased with.

This arvo I think I'll keep myself occupied and build a proper bench for the build so I'm not grovelling around on the floor and give me a chance to scrub on my welding skills since it's been a good ten years since I've done any.

if it doesnt fail miserably I'll post up some pics.......If!

So I've got myself a heap of 25 x 25 rhs and some ally checker plate. Both are 2mm thick, with the right bracing my bench should be solid enough to hold the bike but light enough to move around on my own. Paint was left over from one of the wifes DIY jobs, I also got a couple of saddle clamps to make tie down points. The checker plate was heaps cheaper in smaller sections as opposed to one full sheet, so if you dont care about the odd join here and there like me this is a good way to go to jeep costs down. The beer was an optional extra

so far I've spent $112 including the beer. I had started cutting the RHS to length when a mate invited me over to watch the footy and have a bevvy while I put it together. As I mentioned before I havent welded for a while an he is a guru so I'll be relearning from one of the best. We'll be using the MiG for the bench but he's also offered a few pointers on, and the the loan of, a TiG welder which I'm sure will come in handy!
