The wife and I are off to the States on Tuesday, landing at Dallas, Texas where we are getting a Roadking. We will be touring for about 6 weeks around the South near New Orleans and then up to Memphis and Nashville. We will mostly be travelling on secondary roads, not the big freeways. We also plan to explore along the Blue ridge parkway(Tennesee, Sth Carolina and Virginia). I have heard from a few people and read on this site that its one of the Great rides around. Also through the National parks and Ozark ranges to Tulsa then Wichata before getting onto Route 66 at Amarillo back in Texas. Side trips to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Death Valley are all on the way, and maybe a Baseball game somewhere if the season has started.

I bought a gopro to mount on the bars to get some good film and pictures, but have struggled to figure it out, so hopefully I will sort it out this weekend.

When we get back I hope to have sove good pictures to show everyone.

We end up in L.A. for a few days sightseeing and drop the bike off at Chopaweeza's warehouse for shipping back here.

If you are going near the Blue Ridge Parkway then you must do the Tale of the Dragon. 318 curves in 11 miles! Also a top motorcycle park in Stecoah not far from both - Iron Horse Motorcycle Park.

Did the Smokey Mountains in 2010. Fabulous riding territory, enjoy!

Sounds like a awsome trip, hope all goes well. Are you getting a new bike or 2nd hand?

I plan on getting a second hand one, but it will most likely be a 2012 model. I'm really keen to get the 103 motor and the abs option. The security and key fob that we get over here as standard on the newer bikes is an option over there, but I hope to find one with it. There are a few big shops in Texas that i've been watching and doing comparisons on, over the last 10 months since we decided on this trip. I will see what they are like when we get there. Kick a few tyres and go for a run.

Hi there, I hope you both have a great and safe trip. As someone already mentioned seeing some pics would be great, maybe even accompanied by a journal kind of thing. All the best working out your go pro.

sounds like an outstanding trip. Make sure you do Graceland, even if you're not a huge Elvis fan, it's bloody amazing. I've heard that 'The Tale of the Dragon' is one of the deadliest roads in the US, but I'd still do it. You should try and do Yosemite from the Death Vally side too; very groovy ride. Enjoy guys!

My tip is go to the north rim of the Grand Canyon.

You won't be disappointed in the riding.

    South rim is boring roads

    Cheers
