Hi guys, have any of you had experience removing fuel gauges? I'm wanting to replace the OEM one for my Kuryakyn battery/fuel one. My main 2 questions is wanting to know which fuse is for the fuel pump on 06 Softail, and how to safely remove the old gauge. I have found a how-to article on the web, but I don't have a wk shop manual.
Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Here is the manual. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tagrrgh8plxbkbb/SOFTAIL-2006-Service-Manual.pdf. I posted that a few weeks ago. As far as the replacement of gauge goes it is an easy job. I have the same guage as you have bought. You can either cut the wires to remove the gauge or take the plugs apart. Make sure you cut the gauge side not the other side. The gauge will just lift straight out. The it is a case of doing the wiring. An hour max. If you have any questions drop me a line
I finally decided to have a go fitting my fuel/ battery gauge this afternoon. I made a small mistake by accidentally connecting one of the wires in the wrong plug slot, so I cut all 3 wires and used a crimper and tube joiners. Problem solved. Only problem now is trying to calibrate the damn thing.
