I had a H-D heritage handlebar with ISO grips fitted to my Roadking and went for a ride yesterday to test them out.

The bars offer a couple of inches pull back so instead of leaning forward you are now sitting upright and your arms are basically horizontal from your body to the bars, for an old guy like me it makes it more comfortable as my back is more vertical 

It took a couple of corners to get use to the slightly different riding position, but no big deal

All the stock cables fitted so there was no need to replace any of the cabling.

Most of you already have the ISO so no need to comment on the grips.

I posted this here instead of the product review section as it's hopefully more interesting to us riding tourers.

Hi Canetoad, I'll get some decent photos and post them but here a couple of recent ones, they don't really show the bars properly. Had the bars for a couple of months and done a few thousand K's with them and find them great. The old bars made me feel as if I was leaning forward whereas the heritage bars have me sitting more upright and are far more comfortable. The bar height seems to be the same height of your arms if you held them out horizontally, if that makes sense! You are pushed back in the seat a little as well, but that suited me.

Bars look good too, your bike is exactly the same as mine, 2012 blue pearl nearly same extras too, well was the same anyway as I wrote her off 3 weeks ago we did 24000k together and I hit something harder than her!! still I have a new roadking coming soon and will get the bars done then...... just out of interest Bill.... how tall are you? and thanks for your effort in posting again...

I throughly enjoy riding the Road King, yet I read in Heavy Duty that they are discontinuing the FLHR models!!

And Yes I am still interested in seeing how your bars look, along with probably a few others as well eh! I am also assuming that with the heritage bars you could at least roll them back towards you as well for a little more reach as well..... as I am a short arse at 172cm and though I got used to the standard bars on my last RK I had to over reach on tight turning or when parking the bike

Here are a few close up photos of the Heritage Bars, I tried to place the stock bars so you could see the difference. Also when I first started looking at getting the Heritage Bars I found the first two photos on the internet. You can see from these photos how the bars pull the handlebars back a few inches, which they do. The first photo has the Heritage Bars fitted.

 I appreciate your efforts so Thank you very much for the photos and it was good to see the difference between the bars too! I looked at a purple heritage the other day to check out the looks and feel, but it is hard to work out if the change over for the RK is going to work for me and like most will just have to do it and hope it was worth the effort...... but at least I have an idea of what it will look like now as well...........

Hi Len, I think you'll find they'll come back several inches, which should be more comfortable with reaching for the bars.  Cheers Bill

OK, I've just come back from a 250k ride and the last 50k's were torture on my back!! I'm going to order the Heritage Bars. Can anyone confirm if 56902-08 is what I need?

And do I need to change cables, brake lines?

Rodcig, you've been ripped off. I didn't have to change the cables, it also say it in the parts catolog as well that the original cables fit!

Bill, have'nt actually bought the bars yet, will do so this week. In the 2013 parts and accesories book, page 583, it say "Road King/Road Glide Heritage Style handlebar-08 and later models. All models require separate purchase of additional components". 56902-08 polished stainless steel. I called the dealer and they told me I needed all the other crap. I've done a lot of research, on US and Aussie forums, and you are correct, I should be OK with all the stock brake lines and cables.

Installed the bars today...man what a difference! They sit me back a little and they are higher than the stock Road King bars. I love them, very comfortable after adjustments. The only time consuming part was taking off the nacelle and auxiliary lights because of the damn mini tacho. Otherwise, not a bad job.Thanks all for your input.

Hopefully pick up my new 2013 Road King by the end of next week with the heritage bars shop fitted, so I am looking forward to seeing if I should of done this mod with my previous Road King (wrote "Pearl" off early last June).....
